Ok, Quick question....... Could I possibly run a well built 331 with 11:1 compression with a small supercharger? Say 6psi.... SAFELY on pump gas and a very very safe tune? This is a street car. It has a mexican block, forged everything, AFR 185s and a T-56 behind it. Just throwing the idea around, but don't want to worry about trashing the new engine or blown head gaskets every other day. I know LS1s can do it with ease. How about this poor little 331?

You could do that while running E85 with no problem. A pump gas tune with NO timing in it would probably work too but would it be worth the investment?

It will be fine. For one 6lbs on a mild supercharger can just about keep the na tune. If you go e85 you'll run into all sorts of fuel issues

if you run meth with it i was told that you can boost a higher compression motor.

Assuming he will have to upgrade injectors and/or fuel pump anyway, so long as he gets large enough injectors and pump to support E85 ther aren't any other issues to consider other than having a pump near him to fill up.

6lbs of boost isn't really enough boost to matter anyway. Now if he was trying to swing 14 plus I'd say take precautions but that's not really enough boost to matter

Im thinking about a Novi1220 or SL series Vortech. It would get all needed parts for the install. It has a 190 pump but I would go with a 255 for forced induction. Probably 60 lbs injectors. I just want it safe. 5-6 lbs of boost will easily be over 500 at the wheels. Its around 400 now NA. Methanol is definately an option as a safety feature, but I don't want to rely on it. E85 isnt an option. I'm not searching for it when needed. Not every gas station here has it.

Your comp. ratio is high, but it should work, you will definitely want to get a dyno tune. I think that if it were me in this situation, I would look at N2o, cheaper investment, easier to tune with that comp, drivability is the same, and a 100/150 shot is pretty easy to set up/tune. Also at the 500 rwhp mark, you really need to start thinking about your next move, as you are on the edge of what the block will hold. You may decide to move your internals into a boss block, lower your comp, and put a bigger blower on it. Good luck

Man if you haven't spent the money yet you should look into a small turbo. They make more power and make your car worth more money. Personially I hate blowers. They go bad real easy

And stocknotch on here is a good friend of mine who builds custom kits for super cheap. If that is something you maybe interrested in let me know and I can get you hooked up

Turbo is an option. I just wanted to keep it simple. Changing heads to drop compression is also an option too. Budget is where the issue comes in!

I've had several blower set ups but my turbo cars were way funner. The difference is unreal

I agree with Metcalf.Run a turbo.
