Siphon gas - 2001 GT

Guys, I am in Cavalcade again this year, and realized I have 3/4 of a tank left. I know I cant simply stick a tube down the filler neck and pump/siphon it out.

I thought maybe the vent lines would work (Tony was able to do that on V6), but those are way to long on the GT and bend alot to even get a hose snaked through them.


I dont want to drop the tank if at all possible. Any ideas?

do they have to be emtpy? only other way then dropping the tank is drilling hole in tank or maybe disconnet the fuel line and cycle key on off but that will take forever , find a way to jump the fuel pump and make it pump all the fuel out.

why are they being jerks about the gas

tanks have to be 1/4 or less..so i need to dump 8 gals or so

i have a transfer pump..the filler neck on this car is a anti-siphon..so I cant get it down deep enough to actually get in the tank

I was thinking. Maybe I can disconnect the fuel filter and siphon from there

Take out the shrader valve (looks like a tire valve) on the fuel rail, put a hose over it and put th eother end in the fuel can.....ignition on but dont start it........let the fuel pump do your work for you! (be careful!)

I like Chad's idea lol drive it like crazy until next weekend, or do it old school style with a hose just dont swallow any while your sucking it out lol.

what about the fuel sending unit? can you get to it to unplug it? if you do does it go to full or empty?

just pull a line off the the fuel rail or pull the schrader valve

Pull off fuel filter, attach a hose to line from tank, turn on key. Fuel pump will drain it in no time!!

fuel pump wont stay running with key on. Dropping the tank is fairly easy. I could have one dropped and emptied in under an hour. :)

USE THE SELF TEST CONNECTOR LOCATED UNDER THE HOOD TO MAKE THE FUEL PUMP RUN OR JUMP THE FUEL PUMP RELAY AND REMOVE THE PRESSURE LINE FROM THE FUEL RAIL AT THE INJECTORS (NEED SPEC TOOL TO RELAEASE LINE) OR DISCONNECT THE LINE AT THE FUEL FILTER AT REAR OF CAR NEAR THE GAS TANK.

Honda's have a drain bolt :)


How about putting it on jackstands and just letting it run.......in reverse......to get the mileage off the odometer.

Or you could just pull the fuse to the gauges lol, when they look tell them they arent working, not like they care. The car i helped put in there last year we just disconnected the wire to the fuel gauge from the sending unit inside the fuel cell.
That rule is such bullshit, the empty space in your tank for fumes to sit are actually way more dangerous and explosive than a tank full of gas.

I think my uncle is a Pro siphoner, i'll try an get some tips from him. I know if anyone leaves their vehical unattended for more than an hour at his place, tank is bone dry when you go to leave lol

use a scan tool to manually run the pump and remove the schrader valve

Use a decent fuel pressure gauge set with a side dump. Let the car idle and fill some cans with the fuel as it idles out.

Well I was able to do it on Tuesday night.

I used a 1/4 OD PVC tube to get past the anti-siphon baffle. (the kind that they use on water lines for icemakers). Took me about an hour to do, but I got the 8 or so gallons out.
