I apologize if this has been asked, but the search terms are too short for any search and I'm having trouble locating this info.

I need to decide on an oil pump for my engine and I"m not sure which to go with.

It is going to be a turbo motor so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

What other factors are there in choosing a proper oil pump?

I've found a Canton oil pan with a drain bung already welded onto it and a melling high volume oil pump that I'm considering picking up.

I've heard some issues with the canton pans sealing, so I'm wondering if I should just buy a new moroso pan and having a drain fitting welded on.

Thanks

OK thanks guys. I knew this was a case where "too much" could be harmful. I'm glad I asked.

Standard volume for a ford, HV for a Chevy.

You can use either pump just will have to use a oil restrictor fitting on the turbo. You will probrobly have to use a oil restrictor anyway. On mine, I did not have to but some people's cars they have to run a turbo oil restrictor even with a stock oil pump.

They say u want 1psi per 100rpms but i've always use a standard pump but may use a high pressure for 8,000 rpm.

didn't see you were building a windsor, what main bearings and clearance? 1/2 groove or 3/4 groove?

I'm not sure, I'll have to ask Tony when I pick the motor up.
