I've just never done this before and I know alot of the sites that sell the codes can be bogus or can have viruses just thought i'd seek some advise before I do it

its a gsm phone, shouldn't have to unlock it. Just swap sim cards, that all I have ever done.

When I unlocked my BlackBerry, I bought a code for it at gsmphonesource.com. If you can't find a free source, I would suggest them...the service and turnaround was excellent.

If it's a "normal" phone, try typing the model name and "unlock" into YouTube's search...you may be able to find a tutorial in how to unlock it.

if you have been with the carrier for 90 days they are required to give you the passcode.

Just tell them you will be traveling overseas and want to get a simcard from a carrier while you are over there.

No not really. There is no law saying we have to unlock phones.

FYI traveling overseas really isn't a valid excuse due to roaming agreements.

Bell never provides codes from what I've seen.
