Haven't had enough taxing in Hamilton County? Well read this sports fans. 2010 brings a 13.2 million dollar deficit on the stadiums that home the Bengals and Reds. Hamilton County is considering imposing a sin tax on sodas, alcohol, and tobacco as well as a $111.00 property tax increase for every $100,000.00 of property appraised value, without a vote by the taxpayers.

Is it not enough that we pay for stadiums for Mike Brown and Bob Castellini only so they can get richer at our expense? :flipoff:

Let the players, owners, and fans of these county owned facilities pick up the bill for a change. Tax ticket sales, revenue generated by the stadiums that would otherwise not be there, i.e. player salaries, owner profits, stadium management jobs, vendors, etc. I am tired of my property taxes going up to support interests that I turned my back on when these already ungreatful, overpaid, spoiled, "athletes" went on strike to get more money and better benefits years ago.

Classic case of elitist entitlement in vivid HD color!!

Believe me if I could afford to move I would!! Consider yourself fortunate if you live ourside this county.

I've heard about the "Sin Tax" in Hamilton Co. Thats ridiculous to tax soda, alcohol, and tobacco. Since when is it the Govt. decision to decide whats "sinful" for the people. If somebody wants to drink soda's or alcohol or smoke then that's their right. KY started taxing tobacco like crazy in the last year, yeah lets tax our biggest crop that we produce here in KY. Brilliant.

Try this on for size. 825 sq ft home (modest to say the least). 1/8th acre of property in Deer Park. Paid $1976.00 in property taxes for 2009. IF I could afford to leave the God forsaken county I would. Moveto another are a for lower taxes and you get a higher mortgage payment.

Mike Brown get the 4377 out of town and take your darn dog Castellini with you!!!

Move a little south to Colerain Township, I wanna say mom's property tax is $4600 a year. I know my little 2 bedroom house on Pippin I was paying $2600 a year 5-6 years ago. I was only $1400 when I moved in.

AND our school district STILL doesn't have full busing. Had a kid hit at Pippin and Kemper walking to school (no sidewalks) and the Township can't decide if they need a freaking overhead light there.

Ouch.

I'm up in Montgomery and 2100sq ft, 4-bedroom on ~1/8th acre was ~$1250 this year. It keeps going up, slowly.

Goes to prove you do not have to look far to find another that has it worse than you do. The issue here is not just the crazy taxes we all pay in this county with little in return for it, but the fact that we will likely be providing additional nanny taxes for the elite-rich-well-to-do's that continue to leach off the taxpayer, i.e. Mike Brown specifically. At least Castellini has ponied up money to support his stadium build.

If this tax hike being was being considered for the county parks that we all use then I would not be as objective. The parks are open to the public for everyone to use and enjoy.

Got me thinking. I haven't looked at my taxes recently. :o

The one house I own, is a rental. 672s/f, small yard and it is 965.24 a year.

My house is 1344s/f, on .36 acre. It runs 2116.14 a year.

Both are in Hamilton.

And I thought most areas of Montgomery County were pretty high but they are nothing compared to Montgomery County. I looked at a house in Clearcreek Township back in September and the property taxes were just shy of $10,000 a year. Between the taxes and the $100K+ in work it needed I don't think could have gotten the house cheap enough to make it a good investment.

Now I think Xenia and Greene County aren't so bad.
