Everyone pretty much knows what happened to my car at the track a few months ago. I pretty much lost all interest in it and haven't even touched the car until yesterday...

I'll try to update with pictures as I bring it back from the dead.

Before:

My buddy Andy (apocalypse) stopped by today and we made some good progress.
-Removed the hood, bumper, fenders, turbo piping, down pipe, intercooler, radiator, what was left of the fan, MSD box, 2-step box, upper intake and t/b. Thanks again Andy for the help! You have no idea what you got yourself into

I finally got the car back from being straightened and painted.
Kept it pretty simple this time around. It's black...
Just got the brake booster, brake lines, wiring, motor/trans installed over the weekend. Still A LOT left to do!!

Well, it's been a while since i've messed with the car but here's a quick update...Decided to drink a few beers and mess with the car last night...ended up getting the hot side back on the car and started working on mounting the intercooler...ended up getting a wrong bracket but will hopefully get that taken care of this week sometime...Then onto tackling the cold side!

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q115/bkstang95/Mobile%20Uploads/0725001753.jpg

bkstang95
08-30-2010, 09:25 AM
Got a little more work done this weekend...Ended up redoing the entire cold side. The old setup only had a 2.5" x 24 intercooler with 2.5" piping that entered/exited on the same side...This one is a 4" x 31" (i think) "blow through" intercooler and we went with 3" piping... I'm very happy with our progress from yesterday.

Yeah, was at the track...launced, had bad wheel hop, stayed in it...as I shifted to second, broke all the studs off passenger side rear wheel...went straight into the wall...pretty much sucked haha So have just been piecing it back together as best as I can when money allows.

Made a little more progress this weekend...got the brakes put on and bled and was able to drive it around under it's own power for the first time in almost 2 years!
Off to the body shop sometime this week and then have to put the new differential in, swap to 3.27 gears (from 3.08) and get the axles drilled out for these 5/8" studs...shouldn't be too much longer before I can get out and start causing some trouble again!

Just a little update...got everything finished up on the body work department...got it back to the house last night and just have a couple things left to do before its time to get back to tuning again...

Going to take the rear end apart tonight so I can get the axles/rotors/wheels over to the machine shop to get drilled out for the new 5/8" studs...depending on how long that takes might be able to get that back together this weekend.

5/8 studs are overkill on that car.

bkstang95
06-29-2011, 10:13 AM
They might be...

Jeff88coupe
06-29-2011, 10:47 AM
Well...since he sheared a set of 1/2" stud that caused him to wreck...I think running a set of 5/8" studs is a wise upgrade. Running a DR tire with any kind of tire shake will test the whole driveline.

bkstang95
06-29-2011, 10:54 AM

Thanks man! Yeah, it's unfortunate, but i'm not going to let it slow me down. No numbers yet...still a few loose ends to finish up and then want to just go over everything again to make sure everything is correct. Hopefully in the next week or so though...I'm pumped!

Yea, I'm pretty disappointed to say the least, especially after I trusted the seller. I guess if my word wasn't enough, that this thread and my build thread would be evidence enough that these wheels have never had a tire mounted on them since purchased from the seller, not to mention the money I've spent on top of these wheels, but guess that's just not the case. Keep me updated.

No, the wheels are not race stars, they are greg welds, so if 5.0calypso sold them to you as race stars then he lied to you.

Here is the original for sale thread on them. So, looks like James lied to you.

Guilty conscience?! I didn't even mention your name?! LOL

At any rate...they sat in the boxes until yesterday other than to take a picture...the bent part was on the rear lip of the wheel...I bought them from a good friend who never used the things and said they came from you, whom i thought was a reputable person to deal with...

Bottom line, I'm not asking you to do anything nor do i expect you to at this point. I just want others to know how you dealt with someone else. He has bought multiple cars off of you and obviously trusted you enough to think you wouldn't sell him an inferior product.

The rears are Greg Welds...the fronts (THE WHEELS IN QUESTION) are Race Stars! Isn't that day 1 in any sales job?! "Know your product"?!

They are not race stars. I know my product. They are greg weld drag stars i bought from summit racing.

here is a link to another of their wheels.

Here is a pic of the wheel with the original center cap that came with them. I switched the center cap out to match my race stars.

So you swapped center caps and boxes?! Nice!

I don't understand your point. I bought the wheels, ran them on the car, took the center caps from my 15" that wouldn't fit, and put them on my car to match.

In the meantime I sold the 15's to Joe, with the greg weld center cap on them.

When I got the new wheels from race star, i saved the box in case I had to ship them out to someone.

I never sold the wheels as race stars, I sold them as Greg Welds. It's right there in the thread, but thanks for playing. The link to my for sale thread is still there.

I didn't say it got fucked up there. You said the wheel had never been out of the box. Clearly thats not true.

i could see if you sold them to someone on yellowbullet then he sold them and shipped them out and theyve been all over the country. but theyve been right here in cincinnati, in the hands of 2 board members that both dont have running cars .

we got two hard working guys who spend theyre paychecks to enjoy a hobby and have fun, being fucked over by a guy with a car full of free parts who doesnt have to buy his own shit. real class act there

I guess if you actually had to buy your own parts youd realize what it feels like to be screwed out of hard earned money. but fuck it you bend this set so you just had your sponsor send you some new ones! win win right?

Because you know neither I nor Brandon have ever run these wheels on any car since they were purchased from you. That is clearly shown in our build threads. You are not owning up to parts you damaged and sold, bottom line. Instead you're trying to find ways to "catch us in lies" to make yourself feel and sound better. I gave you the opportunity to man up and help out in the situation. I contacted you FIRST before ever starting any of this crap on the internet. You responded with "not my responsibility" and I think that speaks a million words about you and your business ethics.

ON MY 4 DAUGHTERS LIVES, I KNEW OF NO ISSUES WITH THESE WHEELS WHEN I SOLD THEM

TAKE THAT AS GOSPHEL!!!

May the good lord strike them down and make me burn in hell if i'm lying!!!

That is the truth, no ifs, ands or buts

Lucky you didnt sell them on YellowBullet.com Some of those guys take great pride in ruining people for that shit! In my opinion you sold him a messed up wheel, that hasnt been on a car yet.... But it was on your car.?.?? You should be responsible for it. Its like James still owns them and finally got around to mounting them 6 months later.... Didnt change the outcome that the wheel is messed up.....

The gosphel is if I had the slightest indication that there was any issue with one or both of these wheels, I never would have sold them.

You or James can stop by and I'll give ya $50, half the cost of the wheel.

That should cover any repairs I gotta think.

Fair enough?

Made a little moar progress this weekend...

I lost the better part of 2 months trying to get the rear end of this car figured out. The first hang up was at the machine shop getting the 5/8" studs drilled out...that took 3 weeks for some reason.
The second cluster fuck had to do with my decision to run Strange differential instead of a spool. I was wrong in assuming their 33 spline diff would work with my 33 spline axles...so after jacking around with those guys trying to get them to spec out a set of axles that would work with their differential i just had them send my axles/diff back to me and switched to all Moser products. So, after all of that I am back to what I originally had in the first place...a spool... Hate cars! :mad2:

Now that I had all the parts I needed, my buddy Wayne came over and we did work...got the rear end set up, put on the new brakes, put the new power steering pump on, and wrapped the crossover pipe...Still have a few other odds and ends to figure out before it gets tuned but still making progress.

The day finally came! Made it over to see Adam today...made A LOT of progress today. Can't thank the guys that made this possible enough...Tino hooked me up big time by getting it out there and my buddy Wayne who has helped me from day 1 get this thing back together one beer at a time in my garage.

Got the car switched over to E85 and made some great power today. Got a few issues taken care of while there, even though it was newb mistake on my behalf, was making the car overheat at idle...looks like we were blowing through the converter so next step is to track down the guys over at PTC and see what they suggest at this time...it should pick up some again after that fix as well. It was definitely wanting to eat today! Minor set back but will be back for more, hopefully soon for some track tuning.

Had a few issues to take care of since it was last on the dyno...Had to send the converter out to PTC to work their magic for the current combo. Also had the shaft in the turbo break...so ended up needing a new turbo...again!
Since I now had a little downtime with the converter being sent out and having to make up my mind on what turbo to run this time around since the last one took a shit...decided I would take care of the cooling system...Ditched the heater core lines and had -16AN fittings welded to the radiator and water pump. Figured it was well worth doing so there were no more future mishaps at the track...turned out pretty good IMO.

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q115/bkstang95/ANfittings.jpg

I also figured I'd get some real suspension under this thing to help get it down the track...picked up some Strange 10-ways for the front and back, went back to stock springs and added the Team Z series 1 rear suspension package...Thanks again to Brandon over at Finishline for helping me out! Was excellent to deal with and would definitely recommend people needing some Team Z suspension to contact him!

Not that big of an update, but an update to say the least!

Got the converter reworked and re-installed and got the new turbo put on there. Adam was able to get it worked into the dyno yesterday, so big thanks to him for that, and got the car ready to go to the track! Made some great [and safe] numbers out of it and think everyone is pretty happy with the results! I guess the track will be the ultimate test at this point.

Still have to do some driveability tuning but for where it's at now it cruises pretty well and temp never went over 150*! Can't beat that!

Hope to have an update with a decent timeslip from the track in the next week or so!
