When I push the clutch in my rpms will jump for a few seconds and then settle back down. Does anyone know what is causing that?

It could be caused by a couple things. The computers on most mustangs are programed to hold the rpm's somewhat to aid in smooth shifting. I have also seen the Idle air control valve stick and cause this.

as well as floor mats and sticky throttle bodies.

What year is your car?
1986-88 sometimes have a problem with the connections in the salt and pepper connectors on the back of the intake. Pull them apart clean them and lightly sand on them. (Had that problem on an '88 GT and that was the fix.) As mentioned above look at TB. Clean it with some carb cleaner or something similar. Also check the TPS voltage...you will get many "correct" settings told, but make sure it is around .98 or so...a little less a little more is okay. Clean the MAF sensor. Finally reset the idle. Here is the way Ford Racing states to do it. Go to my post #7 and I have the link there.

Again the TPS is always a hot debate...just get it close and you will be fine.
