I was just wondering where the new owner had been, He hasn't posted anything up about the car, or racing it ... I can't even remember his S/N, I know it was TTsNewOwner or something like that until he made a new one ...
I thought he was going to run it in the NMRA, But never hear anything more about it !!!
Just wondering...

He got pretty pissed about some thing and made a pretty knarly post about it.So they deleted the last few pages of the thread in TT thread and left it at that.I could go more in depth, but im not sure the powers above would want me to restart anything.

I was just curious
I know right when he bought it and they were testing it, He was posting all the time and then he was gone ...
I was just seeing if anyone knew if he was racing it, If it had been seen at a track, Etc...

I have talked with him and he thanked me for the paint job I put on TT and says he gets compliments where ever he drives it. Been to cruise ins and drives it around town. Its great to know the car is being enjoyed and driven.
He replaced both head gaskets and had the alternator go out on it and says its a blast to drive and he loves it. Also told me he was thankful to all the people that helped get TT up and running.
Real nice guy. And I will post updates when he sends em.

Last time I talked to him on facebook, he got it running alot better, found a broken crank trigger, and the bushing at the rear of the alternater was missing. Once he fixed those, it ran really good. He has lowered the boost and is getting used to driving it. He is having fun with it. Good to hear!!!

Broken crank trigger?
stangfireman
10-16-2009, 11:59 PM
Broken crank trigger?
Crank trigger wheel actually. When I replaced the alternator, I happened to put my hand on the crank pulley and it moved. There were two bolts holding it in and one broken bolt. I'm guessing this broke the centering ring off the wheel. Purchased new pulley, indicated wheel and pulley to within .003 and re-set the air gap. All fixed.
And thanks to everyone that helped getting TT to where she is today. No track time as of yet. Need to get a few more data logs for my tuner on the street when I find a nice straight road free of cars. :D Then hopefully a few passes at the track if the weather co-operates.

As for an update, she's been driven around a bit. Roughly 20 gallons worth. LOL Went to a car show and had a nice time. Started her for a friend at the show and the next thing you know, the car's surrounded. It was pretty comical actually. LOL
Then took her crusing around this small town. Met up with several nice cars. 5 tubbed cars and some fast stock appearing cars. Went driving by the ricers and made the BOV do it's thing and could only imagine what they were thinking. She hasn't gotten over 180 yet. I actually had to turn the fan off when we were crusing as it went to 150. It was cool out, but that shocked me. LOL
I've been going fairly easy on her. Only seen maybe 13lbs boost so far. Think the new springs I got hold around 11lbs for a low. She tends to spin the tires when the boost comes on. But I'm running more air in the tires since I'm driving around quite a bit. I'll let everyone know what happens. I think she has a 160 in her. :bigthumb

Just to update everyone, TT will probably be parked until I'm moved to Oklahoma. Roads are way too cold now. When the boost kicks in and she gets sideways, it's not fun. LOL She will be getting a few changes such as one fuel pump and possibly switching to E85. Possibly all V-band clamps on all the turbo tubing and a few other things provided the money is there.
There's a site that will be holding monthly races down in Oklahoma and the only class she will fit in is the big tire class. So I'll probably play with them as everyone seems to be scared of turbos. Especially twins. LOL Rules will only allow me in with the big boys. But I can also run some 315's if they fit. :)
I'll update when any changes have been made.

Just to update everyone, TT is now in Oklahoma. Trailered her through Ohio one last time and went south. Ride went well, but once again, the alternator took a shit. Starting to think Powermaster stuff sucks since it was new in Aug. with very few miles on it. Took the alt to a local shop and they fixed it in a couple hours. Then took my girl for her first ride in her and scared the crap out of her. LOL Just rolled into the throttle and didn't even get close to the floor, hit second and her arms were flying. Sure wish the iPhone had video.
There's a local "Do it Yourself" shop here having a meet and I'm hoping to drive her up tomorrow. Guess I'll get to see how far I can go on a tank. It's only 10-13 miles away, but I still don't know how much she drinks. So this could be fun. LOL
I have a guy here that does videos for all the local racers and he said he would get some video when I get to the track. Not really in a hurry right now as I'm looking for work and have stuff to take care of that's more of a priority. I'll keep everyone updated.
You made that drive pretty quick. I am still jealous of that CLEAN garage you have for it. lol

I left at 5:30am Sunday and arrived here around 12:30pm EST. I only drove 65mph. LOL The garage doesn't look like the pictures you seen before. Now it's packed with my junk. LOL
Before I clean out my garage I will get a pic of the before and after. You will find if humorous. Its an over sized 2 car. I used to be able to get 2 cars, 2 quads, 2 bikes and still have room for the riding mower and all sorts of stuff including a storage area with 4 levels that goes across the back. Now I am lucky to get a small 2 seater car, a bike, and mower in it with all the junk. Garage sale this summer is going to have to happen.

Took TT out to a local Sonic tonight. Had heard some cars show up on Thursday nights and wanted to check it out. Turns out they are mostly show cars, but there were some very nice rides there. I think TT was the fastest car there and she got alot of attention. Thought I'd share a couple pics. I tried out the new BOV a few times and when I got to Sonic, let's just say my hands looked like when I got out after the 150mph blast. LOL She's scarey fast! And that water on the ground isn't from Twisted.

We are expecting storms and had to pull the MR2 into the garage as well. They would both fit with ease, but I have way to much junk! Hatch is open to see how much fuel I burned on the drive. Roughly 8 miles one way. Had plenty left.

Thought I'd update a little. Had the chassis certified to 8.50 last weekend. Planning to install my 7531 box and rear upper spherical bushings. Time to get rid of the stock rubber bushings. And I have a track rental planned for the 25th, provided I can get at least 7 cars to show up. Then to practice staging the car, building boost and launching. Hopefully I can get some videos up when we go. I'll keep everyone updated.

Had my track rental today. It was a great day and we had 15 cars show up. $90 per car and we had it for 5 hours. According to most of the drivers, the track wasn't there. And these were mostly 5.0-5.60 1/8th mile cars.
Now for me and Twisted.
We only got to make two passes. My plan was to go out and get a feel for the car as most of you know, she scared the shit out of me on the 150mph blast. LOL
First pass I wanted to foot brake her and roll into the throttle slowly so not to have a pass like the first one at Edgewater. She launched good and hooked up better then I expected. No tires breaking loose as she normally does on the street when the boost kicks in. I shifted at 6K, which the shift light is set at 6800. Wanted to get a good data log pass to see how the tune was. Turns out they had the track set for 1/8th mile and I never got anything past there on times. Times were 1.83 60ft, 4.70 330 and 6.96@112 in the 1/8th. Not great by any stretch, but she felt good going down the track and that was the most important part.
After checking the data log, I launched at -2lbs of boost. Yes that's a minus. LOL Was on and off the throttle a couple times and actually only hit full throttle twice. Got her up to 17lbs of boost though. Data logger looked good, although maybe a tad fat. But fat is good in my book at this point. LOL
Second pass I decided to foot brake once again and keep getting a feel for her. Made sure track was setup for full pass this time.
Foot braked her to 3900rpm and actually got into a little boost on the launch. 1.7lbs. LOL Kept my foot in it for around 3-4 seconds, according to the data logger, and she was drifting towards the centerline. I was on and off the throttle 6 times trying to get her to come back and hit a peak of 16.9lbs boost. Times were 1.79 60ft, 4.46 330, 6.65@112 1/8th, 8.56 1000ft and 10.21@133 1/4 mile letting off before the finish. Never went over 6350rpm.
So we go up for the third pass and during the burnout, she slings the alternator belt off. We got back to the pits, throw the belt back on and go to try again. Now the belt is squealing like hell and the FAST shows 11.7 volts. Alternator is shot once again.
The only thing I can figure at this point is that the alternator is moving around too much and I need a stiffer mount. I haven't looked into it since I got home, but will look further tomorrow.
So that was my exciting day of testing. I feel good in the car and hope to get back out there soon. Just wanted to update everyone. I have one video as the guy that was going to do my videos never showed. As soon as I get it hosted, I'll throw it up. It was the 1/8th mile time pass and my girlfriend didn't get that great of a video. So please forgive her as it was her first time doing a video of a car going down a track. LOL

As far as boost goes, she only made 17.9 on the FAST log. I had the boost controller set to ramp up from 10 on the launch to 17 over a 2 second period as usually the track sucks on T&T night. Tech guy even told me to come on a Saturday as the prep is better.
First pass was at 4400 off the brake and we made a second pass at 4700 with boost at 12 on the launch and 19 for a high. But the track went away by then. She did make 19.9 before I let off at the 1/8th. Only ran a 6.26@114 versus a 6.32@113 first pass. But she still ran a 10.38@102 with a 1.50 60ft. I mis-typed the first pass 60ft. It was a 1.53.
After we get new springs on the rear along with some new struts and springs, she should be ready for more boost. Going to have Mike Duffy work his magic on the suspension and go from there.
I was very surprised at how well she drove on the first pass. I figured it was another mid 10 second pass when I crossed the stripe. I had been out a couple weeks earlier and she ran a 10.34@139 with no changes other then the launch rpm since then. And the air was pretty thick for the 9 second pass.
Glad to see there's still an interest in her over here.
Here's another video of the 1/8th mile pass where I let off. Nothing after 23 seconds, so no sense in watching a bunch of nothing. LOL

Went to a car show today with TT and had a great time. It was to benefit a fellow racer that had a nitrous bottle explode in his shop and he lost a leg. Thought it was a good cause and a good excuse to get her out to play. It was hot as hell, but fun as well.
They first parked me over by another resturant and they were expecting quite a few cars. I was put in the handicap space and I thought it was fitting. LOL I was entered in the race car class as I didn't fit any of the other catagories they had.
After a bit they asked us to move to the main parking lot and I asked if I could do a burn out since I just mounted up a set of M/T 325/50-15 drag radials. They said no problem. So I did. LOL Ended up I won a billet timing chain set for a SBF and 1st place in the race class.

Thanks everyone. Yes, they set me back a little change. LOL Gotta love overtime at a job you love. Taking her to a car show today and a cruise tonight. Hope to test the struts out soon along with some E85. 110 is getting too expensive at $6 a gallon. Try the $2 stuff. LOL

She got 1st in the car class and my buddy got best of show with his beautiful Nova. Then we hit a reunion cruise and I got a ticket. Wish I could say it was for a smokey burnout or something exciting, but it was for an expired tag. LOL Maybe next time. ;-)

I was very impressed with TT. Even though one of the fuel pumps went out, she cruised great. Drove her roughly 20+ miles and she never got over 200 degrees. And that was when it was 94+ degrees with a heat index of 100+. Think around 105 HI. No thermostat and I had forgotten to add the water wetter. When I was cruising at night with a temp around 90 degrees, she never got over 190. I burned about 4 gallons of fuel as well. She did well! Now time for a single Weldon pump. LOL

Thought I'd update on TT.
Went to the track Saturday and made some test passes on the E85. Driver was stupid and didn't data log the first pass. Only testing in the 1/8th on the drag radials and some added weight. Stupid driver passed the scales every time when he wanted to get a weight. Dumbass!
Only made two passes and footbraked both. Tune wasn't set for the transbrake or for the passes actually. First pass was a 1.69 60ft and a 6.30@118.49 letting off right after the 1/8th. Went 10.06@113.15 in the 1/4. Second pass had a 1.67 60ft and a 6.26@118.62 staying in it just a bit longer and went 9.86@119.47.
For comparison, my 9.76@143 had a 6.32@113 1/8th with a 1.52 60ft off the transbrake. I'd say the E85 makes more power.
Now the bad news. After the second pass I pulled into our pit spot and thought the car was missing. Just didn't sound right. Started the car after a bit, hard to start, pulled a couple plug wires and noticed when number 6 was pulled, the idle never changed. Pulled the plug and water is coming out of the cylinder. Popped a head gasket I hope. Looks like it's time to dig into a motor and freshen the whole thing up. So I'm done for the year. But I will stick to the E85! LOL
Funny thing is the data log showed a 10.5 A/F and a .71 Lambda through the whole run. I'm guessing I might have hurt her when I took her out for the street test before I went to the track and it showed up on the passes. So no updates for a while unless the motor gets back together sooner then expected. And she needs a bigger cam! LOL

I am not much of a turbo tuner but isnt 10.5 way rich. I know very rich Nitrous tunes are just as bad a very lean Nitrous tunes. I bet the e-85 is a ton easyier on the gas bill.
stangfireman
09-12-2010, 03:40 PM
Can't say for fact that too rich is bad. Could be. I'm still learning this stuff. I have to say I was pretty shocked when I picked up some E85 Friday night and it was 2.45 a gallon! Hell regular gas is 2.59. But still cheaper then 110 or more race fuel.

Thought I'd update this a little. Car is presently down as she popped a headgasket as previously mentioned.
Engine is being freshened by Henson Racing Engines in Yukon, Oklahoma. Motor is getting a bigger Flowtech Induction custom solid roller cam and some MLS headgaskets for more boost.
I also have a FAST XFI setup going on her and added some Racecraft front A-arms with spherical ends.
Turbos are being rebuilt as well. One was leaking a bit and caused some smoking issues out of the passenger side. Thought it was the motor until I pulled the turbo off and seen oil in it.
Car is getting re-wired also.
Think that's it for now. I'll let everyone know when she's back together and running. Hoping for a July 1st start up. We shall see!

Just some heads up if anyone is interested here. TT will be up for sale within the next week. I'm currently making a list of everything about the car that has been changed or upgraded. I'll also be throwing in a 16' open trailer with it. I just don't have the time or funds available anymore and hate to see her sitting.
I'll have more info soon. Feel free to PM me here or my screen name at hotmail. If you send an email, please have TT in the subject in case it ends up in the spam box.
Thanks!

Just a quick update. We dyno'd TT today. She made 756hp on 15.5lbs of boost. Didn't want to put her on kill as my wallet can't take anymore. LOL Super safe tune and drivability. Any buyers? :-)

Been a while since I posted and not sure if anyone is interested anymore, but yesterday I drove TT to the track (27 miles one way) and ran a 1.40 60ft, 5.93@120 and 9.18@150 and drove home. Basically the same combo as when I bought it outside of a Flowtech Induction custom cam and 315 drag radials. I have a pair of Precision PT6466's going on over the winter. So hopefully they pick it up a little. LOL
Thought I would share for those that remember her and Vinny.

Wish I had video on the pass. But unfortunately none of the people I was with were videoing. She might have even pulled the wheels on that one. My speaker grill flew up the bar and hit the halo. Never had that happen before. LOL
I do have one from two weeks ago on the cars Facebook page. Search Twisted Twins and you can follow any updates. It was a 9.40 pass.

Actually it made 872 on 19lbs of boost up there. I've switched to E85 and it made 756 on 14lbs here. I felt that was good enough and didn't want to push it any more at the time. That was a year ago and I haven't done anything to it since. Think it made 726 on 16lbs up there as well. So I was pretty confident if I raised the boost it would have made more than the 872 at 19. I'm hoping when I throw the 6466's on it will make around 1,000 under 18lbs of boost. I my mind I'm hoping that will help the motor last longer. Guess I'll find out. LOL

Good to see that TT is still pounding the quarter! Does my heart good to see her on the track. I had no idea you were out in Midwest City OK. We were just out that way in September doing some rehab work for tornado victims out East of town near Shawnee and a house for some needy folks right in Midwest City.
Had I known you were out that way I would have looked you up! Who knows, might be back out next year!

Not sure if anyone remembers Twisted Twins. Been a while since I've been on here. Usually on Facebook. LOL
Made some changes and they took forever. Last pass before going down was in Nov. 2014. She ran a 1.40 60ft. 5.94@120 1/8th and 9.18@150 on 19lbs of boost, driven 27 miles one way to and from the track. She now has bigger turbos, Precision PT6466's. TT had been down a while. Finally got her to the track last Friday and made some 1/8th mile passes.
Ran a 5.92@119 on 15lbs of boost. But I trailered her there this time. Made a total of 5 passes and had to pull fuel on every pass. Finally down to a manageable level. LOL
Tried posting some pictures but it won't accept them. See what I can do.
