Royal Purple Break in oil

Does any one have some Royal Purple break in oil sittin around they could let me buy?

I need roughly 8-9 quarts.Would like to get some today.Please pm me or call my cell.

For break in, I find that using the cheapest, thin oil, like a 10-30, works very well. It's only in the engine for a short while and as long as it lubricates and allows the engine to break in, no worries.

I can run that.Ill grab some on the way home.No one in Cincy has break in oil.
Most of the places I called were on Royal purple's website as distributors and they didnt even know they had royal purple.Figures.

Is break in oil as a big of deal with a roller cam? I know it is a very big deal with flat tappet cams but I figured it was not as important w/ rollers.

if its a flattappet run the rotella it has zinc, if its a roller any 10-30 would be fine

I think Lucas makes a "break in oil additive" if you still need it. I've seen it at Autozone recently. Probably a little pricey though.....

question though, on a new/rebuilt engine, should it be put under a load immediately upon start up or let it idle, or various rpms, etc etc ??? I've heard a few different opinions.

Yeah no problem. I wish I could break in my new motor by their suggestions but it just wont happen. Couple of things, my transmission doesn't allow any engine braking and having a ready to run tune within the first few minutes is nearly impossible too. Kinda sucks.

use rotella it gives the bearings a good coating and helps the rings seat good.

I saw it at the one in eastgate, oddly they didn't have what I needed, whats new. It may only be the gear oil they carry, but I know they carry that. personally I don't like Royal Purple. I think it is overpriced garbage. I'd prefer Mobil one any day for synthetic (I am too cheap to run synthetic in most engines however motorcraft 5w20 semi synthetic works great for street motors). I absolutely despise the garbage Royal Purple calls transmission fluid. I would sooner run motorcraft 75w140 gear oil as well. Yeah I bleed blue, I got good deals on the stuff in the past and have always had great results with it. At 3000 miles the 5w20 semi synthetic in my truck looks like new oil, and I run that as hard as most people run their race cars.

Hauled that back from seaman the other day, estimated about 2500lbs. Yes that is a 4cyl ranger.

that is a good read :bigthumb ... i accidentally did the right thing then ... had it dyno'd/tuned, then i was off to the track ... that was 2003, today i have the same engine and its running great ...

There ya go, I read that yrs ago, and it makes good sense. A friend of mine put a 410 stroker in his car, we checked for leaks and he ripped it up and down his neighborhood. Thing ran great for yrs and yrs.

i broke mine in with plain jane pennzoil ... the engine builder liked what he seen after he broke down engines with pennzoil, so i used it ... he builds a lot of those dirt track car engines and those things take some serious abuse ... 15-20 minutes straight of everything its got, not a quick 10-11 second 1/4 mile burst ... lol ...
