Well last night at UMTR I decided to tear my car up. I twisted a axle tube and in the process tore up a bunch of stuff. My drive saft destroyed my one fuel line. It's the skinnier one of the two which I would assume is the return line. Any chance I can use a pipe cutter on it and cut out the few inches that is flattened now? Flare the good ends and then get some brake line and put some unions in line and splice it back or is that not go to work real well?

It's a return line so you could even cut it off smooth on each side and then use some EFI fuel hose and two EFI hose clamps. Works in a pinch. Sucks to hear that Steve, but I've been there done that. You need to get a new housing, weld the tubes and get a swarr bar on it to keep it from happening again. Putting on my future seeing glasses, I see a new driveshaft and yokes in your near future too. Remember the one I was telling you to get a while back? Well, you just found yet another weak link, the next one will be the driveshaft or input/output of the trans.

i agree with rscoupe. you could even flare both ends of the existing brake line where you cut the damaged section out. and then clamp the rubber section behind the flares. would act like a rolled lip on a IC pipe for some added security.

Thanks Mike that's what I will do. I have a anti roll bar on the car and that's actually how we figured out what happened. The tabs that are welded on the tubes for the links. The tabs on the tube that twisted are now facing the gas tank pointing upwards. From the looks of it my driveshaft is toast. It has so many grooves worn into it in 6 or seven different spots from where it shifted when the rear end shifted and it was rubbing on stuff. It appears that my axles and that in the housing itself survived though. You can turn everything without no resistance or drag.

Doubt the axles are hurt. Probably just the housing came apart, sheered off the plug welds the factory uses. Get someone to tig or really hot mig weld the tubes to your center section on your new housing. Also get with Matt and order in a swarr bar to weld onto the tubes and attach to the center section. That keeps it from twisting or flexing. Works well on my car for sure. Go with the 9" yoke on the pinion and the larger ujoint yoke for your tremec, if you still have a T5, oh my.

I appreciate it but unless your selling it for less than 20.00 Jesse(Stangman) said he would sell me one for 20.00.The return line I still need but if I cant locate one then I am just going to use some fuel hose. You dont have a aluminum driveshaft do you?

Looks like the fix will be easier than you thought Steve... It's nice when people on here have parts readily available! :bigthumb

BTW, I spoke with my buddy Andy, his phone is shut off but he still has that rear axle whenever you are free we can run out and grab it.

Well for $20 I'd jump all over that one. I looked and I only have the feed line not the return and the only alum d/s I have is the one I'm using, sorry.

It's only $20 because he is exchanging his services for the remaining amount :D

Actually, I'm getting a free unit with only 70K on it and he and I are using his truck to go get it, and since the one I have needs completely pulled apart and gone through, it's not worth the hassle when I have another one coming.

That, and Steve always has a part of mine on his car at one time or another...

speaking of which...Hows that A9L holding up in there buddy? :D
