Whoa Whoa!!! Ryan I am sure there is someone on this board that can weld that in for you, this is too good a car to part out. Talk to Jesse, he did Deckers.

Dude.... It's not hard... You can do it! You've done a shit-ton of other things to that car... It's not that bad. Just plate them in and it will be just as strong as it was, if not stronger!!

I'm fixing a '79 Capri with more rot than I've seen on a foxbody... I'm replacing rails and core support, and most of the inner fenders... I've also got an '87 coupe to do that is worse than yours... I'm replacing rails in it too...

I mean heck... Decker did it, and I came down and welded all his front end together... His car still moves

I didnt trust myself to put a roof on my hatchback... But I did. You can do it, don't give up on that car, its entirely too nice!

Find some rust free rails. I'll come up on a weekend and do it. Wont be right now, but I will do it. I hate to see a car like that go to waste...

Send it to someone to do it. It will be worth it in the end. Patience Grasshopper!

the floor pans are rusted. everything rusted from the inside out it seems. which made it look find. everywhere i poke i find a rust hole that gets bigger a bigger. im over wheelmed with this project at this point. if suck a good 1k into this so far and it is no where near done. my dads no help bitching everytime i walk in the door. it just needs to go to a new home or many new homes. ill go down south and find a truee rust free car to bring home later on or early spring and just finish building the motor im building for it. i dont have a choice at this point.

 a rust free fox will set you back more than you think...

My floorboards were soft as well... Nothing a trip to the hardware store couldnt fix

Probably next year I'll be putting another set of rails in a '91 coupe where they are RUSTED IN TWO... And he drives it around every day with no issues.

I've been considering making NEW DIRECT FIT frame rails for fox bodies... Wouldnt be too awful hard really. Just the cost of materials...

There have been many times I wanted to just scrap my hatchback and start all over, But shoot, finding another one that is nicer is half the battle. I finally said screw it and I'll MAKE it nice and screw all those rust free cars, by the time I'm done it WILL be rust free!

My car has been on jack stands since fall of '07. It's been in my garage since summer of '07. All it takes is time and dedication, and you have that. We've seen that on your past projects. Everyone gets mad and frustrated at their cars, it happens. Don't let this car get away. Seriously.

i live with my parents too brotha so yeah i know how it is. but the horizontal rail is just spot welded in. it doesnt go all the way down the subframe. do what you gotta do man but its an easy fix even with little welding experience. but if ya gotta part it i could use a good headlight header panel. it killed me to part my black 89 gt but i guess there is some satisfaction in knowing your car will finish other cars.

It's only about a 2hr drive for me...

If you can manage to hold off, I'll try and locate a frame rail or 2

Got a mig welder?

well what do you mean by header panel?

Stangman
08-04-2009, 12:12 PM
The header panel is the fiberglass peice that holds the headlights in, and the bumper cover on... bolts to the fenders
