View Full Version : Noob CCW Question

I'd like to know some options and configurations for CCW holsters.
My ideal holster slides on the inside of my pants and is hardly or not at all viewable or noticeable. I'm not worried about physical security of the pistol (locking holsters etc). I'd also like a solution for when I have to wear a tucked in shirt.
It will be a pretty much stock weapon, no lasers, lights, or fancy grips.
Assume that I'll have a compact or sub compact.
Thanks for the expert suggestions.

I love my Galco high ride thumb break holster for my Kimber 1911 3". With shirt out you cant tell I am carrying at all. For a tucked shirt there are many syles of paddle holster, but I prefer the small of the back paddle style holsters, of course its no longer concealed.

When I delivered pizza, I had an inside the waist band holster, soft leather cheap one. It had a clip on it. We had to keep our shirts tucked in at all times. I just kind of tucked my shirt in around the clip and wore the shirt a little loose. Couldn't tell. I even delivered to the airport and forgot to leave it in the car. Never had a problem ever. I delivered to a classroom one night at NKU in cov to a room full of cops. That was weird but none of them noticed. Either that or they didn't care.

If I remember right google comp tac. They make some really nice holsters for when you do have to be tucked in.

Galco UDC.
Fits all your needs Inisde the Waistband and is tuckable.
Very easy to slide on and off.
Mouth is reinforced so you can reholster one handed.
Cost like $50 at most store. More on Galcos Site.
I can conceal my Glock 27 in anything with it.

But if you want to drop some coin and wait almost 6 months if not more.
Milt Sparks Versa Max II is quite possible the greatest IWB holster ever.

I have a Galco summer comfort inside the waistband. Carry is at 3:30/4:00, right behind my right hip. The other option is small of back, but it isn't comfortable to sit with it back there for extended periods.

I have a Tucker Leather "Texas Heritage"
http://rlcompanyusa.stores.yahoo.net/teheiwb.html
it is an IWB and you can get that allow you to tuck your shirt in. I love it, I carry an MP9c all the time (when legal). It has a piece of leather that comes up to the hammer or slide area and makes it pretty comfortable. The 2 straps keep it balanced and spreads the weight. You will still need a good belt though.

Would like a Versa but they are hard to get.

You would be welcome to try one of them on for hands time if you like.
