A guy I work with is thinking about raffling off his mustang and was wondering if anyone has any input? wants to sell 300 tickets at 20.00 a piece..you can see picks on craigslist under 1980 mustang. about everything on the car is new.

what would happen when/if he didn't sell 300 tickets?? Is there a time frame to sell the tickets?? Things to think about before starting a raffle

Thats what he is wanting to know.. what are the options he needs to consider. he did mention that if he could'nt sell 300 he would have to refund the money. and the time frame he was thinking a month. but looking for input right now. wondering if anyone has done this..

I think most of time they do a 50/50 cash raffle if they don't sell enough tickets.

Usually a raffle such as this also needs to be approved by the Ohio gaming commission (so taxes can be collected from the lucky winner).

Need to change the poll to read, " I would buy a ticket ".

I would buy a ticket, I've taken my chances on items with much worse odds than that!

I would definitely buy one. I would run the raffle sales at a couple of shows, if he can get a small vendor booth, then maybe do a drawing at the fall cruise.

Aren't raffles only for Non-Profit organizations (churches, schools, etc) ?? I'm not really sure, but he might want to check into it ....

Ohio Revised Code Chapter 2915 governs raffles, gambling, games of chance, etc.

I can't say I wouldn't buy one, but your friend needs to check on the legality, of a private raffle. If I recall, you need to be 501c, or some such charitable, not for profit organization.
