Chris and I are HOPEFULLY going there at the end of the month, if he can get off work... My aunt and cousin live in Summerville SC which is right by Charleston. I haven't been there since I was like 5 and was wondering if any of you have recently? It seems like a pretty popular place for some to go to.

Just looking for some cool things to do, cool places to see or good places to eat at. We will be staying at my cousin's house so we'll probably only go out to eat a couple times.

I went there when I was 12 or so...which was 20 some years ago. (God I am old.) They had the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier, a sub, and a few other war ships you could go on...if you like that stuff. We also took a horse carriage ride all over downtown. But do not take pictures of the vodoo women on the street making baskets...it takes their soul. (That's what they told us...lol)

I love Charleston. I've gone there twice in the past three years (Sea Brook Island). There are tons of old plantations; I recommend Magnolia and Drayton hall. Lots of neat historical sites in the city, such as the old market, battery point and if you get a chance, check out Calhoun Mansion (http://www.calhounmansion.net/) Its the biggest house in downtown, and if you liked the movie the notebook, it was the inside of the girls house in he movie. The Beaches are OK, Morris Island lighthouse is neat. Also, if you like seafood, hit up Gilligan's; they have amazing fried shrimp and hush puppies.

There's the Ghost Tours, where they take you through different haunted Charlston locations at night, which were pretty cool, if you're into ghost stories, Ft. Sumpter where the Cival War began, and lots of good restaurants also.

My wife and I got married in Charleston(Isle of Palms) and it is absolutely one of our favorite places to visit. We did Boone Hall Plantation last time we went down, and it was very cool: http://boonehallplantation.com/. I REALLY enjoyed Patriot's Point (http://www.patriotspoint.org/) and highly recommend it. Another must do is the horse drawn carriage tour (http://www.classiccarriage.com/). The guide on the tour gave us a whole bunch of really good insight into Charleston, pointed out some really landmarks and explained a lot of the history of the area. Have fun - I'm jealous! :)

I wish we would've known about that place! We may go back again sometime this yr or next summer. We stayed at my cousin's which was about 40 mins from the beaches... we went out on a boat, rented jet skis, went to the beaches....spent about 2 hours trying to find a dairy queen....!!! But now we know what to do next time and we know our way around a lot better. We might try to go on one of the dinner cruises too, they are supposed to be really nice.

If you dont mind a little drive the Biltmore Estate in Ashville. The natural history museum is pretty cool also. I have not been there in a while but it was fun when i went.
