What, you mean the "Code of Blue" didn't let him go? Unbelievable!

I like the part in the article where it says 'he will not face any discipline until an investigation is completed'.
WTF is there to investigate?
He was off duty, on his own motorcycle, riding at 147mph...investigation over!

The link said he is on the Motorcycle Unit...
These are the jack asses that hide and clock people, then jump OUT INTO TRAFFIC and wave people over. I've seen these guys almost cause wrecks by jumping out into traffic. Drivers don't see them, and then they pop out from behind a barricade or an orange barrel, and it scares the shit out of people.

I was reading new article on this topic this morning, and not only was it an off duty State Trooper, the air patrol unit also clocked an off duty Gahanna cop doing 149mph, and the tickets were not issued until some 8 days later.

This is probably the biggest kick in the nuts to us "common folk"...

Sgt. Taulbee said neither motorcycle driver is facing a more serious charge of racing.
"It's up to the officer's discretion whether he feels they're drag-racing or just going down the road too fast," Taulbee said. "Usually, with drag-racing, you have to observe them stopped and then taking off." Yeah...usually, but they WILL bust your ass with a racing charge even if they don't see you both taking off from a dead dig.

Now...do any of you think if it were 2 regular guys doing the EXACT same thing, that the cop would pass on a 'racing' charge? HELL NO!

The State Trooper pled 'Not Guilty'.

HERE (http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/local_news/stories/2009/07/08/speed_cops.html?sid=101) is the article link.

Should have just rolled some more throttle into it and lost 'em. If they are at a dead stop and you roll by at 147+, they should never see you again. Last I checked, those guys aren't rolling around with SS0 power. :D

They were clocked by an airplane, kinda hard to outrun the sight of a plane.

I did notice that the GPS say "weak signal need clear view of sky" so I'm going to say 98.8 MPH tops !!! LOL

The newspaper said that he was removed from the motorcycle Patrol and returned to doing traffic patrol in a cruiser. So now he will be writing citations for speeding.
I actually at first thought hey he's off duty and obviously a motorcycle enthusiast so no big deal pay the fine and move on. But the not gulity plea is rediculous and I hope the judge makes an example out of him. At least have some integrity and acknowledge when your wrong.

He plead not guilty so he can try and get it reduced down. Nothing wrong with that.
