It was a very sad, but exciting day. My baby is headed off to racecar boot camp!

Got the stock 302 pulled out. It was a good motor. I just COULD NOT kill it. Since it was so good to me, I'm gonna return the love. I'll re-gasket the thing, maybe even throw some ARP head bolts on it, and throw it back in something.

pulled out the interior to make room for some chrome-moly:

With the drivetrain and interior stripped, it's off to the chassis shop to undergo the transformation.

I just can't believe it. My baby is so big! I remember when it was just a wee little stocker... now it's off to racecar boot camp. By the time I get it back, it'll be a big-boy car. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwe. :)

oh yeah, I forgot to add that dsmawd350 is not the instigating redneck hick that he seems to be on the board. In person he's actually a super good dude, has a badass car, and anyone that doesn't agree will get eaten by his attack lap-dog. Oh yeah, and Chad's also Rob's lover, but that's a story for another thread.

LOL!!!

an evening...

Rob and Chad knocked it out in one evening which is pretty impressive considering that most of these "bolt-on parts" hardly ever actually bolt right on.

The work was done quickly, and at a very fair price!

Thanks again guys!!

Walk softly and carry a big Windsor:

Front view. Intake looks like a tunnel ram.

Side view. Accufab 90mm TB. Think I'm gonna need a 4" hood.

Thanks guys. :)

Brad, it's a CHP 427" with an FTI solid-roller and TFS High Port CNCs. We're building the car for "True Street" competition.

I forgot what your plans are, what power adder are you using on this one?

Yep, this engine is what I originally got the F1-R for. I was hoping it would make 1000hp at 15lbs on pump gas. I'm already starting to get a little paranoid that I might've needed an F2, but honestly, I think I'll resist the temptation to fill it with C16 and run 25+ lbs of boost. Most of these parts are made for ~1000hp. I think 1500hp would start breaking stuff that I can't afford to replace.

This is all very nerve wracking. It's like, you want to be really excited, but you don't want to get your hopes up and be let down. Meanwhile, in the back of your head, you know something small could go wrong that would ruin everything... knowwhatimean? :o

I think it'll all be okay. It's taken a lot of hard work to get where we are, and I'm not about to let any little stuff derail the project! Ask me sometime how much work it took to get the intake manifold to fit the High Port CNCs! LOL!
