Hey guys just wanted to pick your brains.... I'm looking to get new/gently used rims and tires I've got about $500 to spend and can go one of two ways, I've got a 1991 LX that's lowered all the way around so tire size is important I don't wanna go much taller than 255 and am wanting 17's or 18's. Currently have 4 lug but could go 5 lug depending on price again I need to stay within my budget. Looking for Fr's or cobra's not to keen on chrome unless they are good one's just seen too many pitted or flaking lately. Thanks for opinions I value them........ Brad

255 is not tire height.Thats the width.
245-45-17 should fit no problem.I had 245's on the front of my 86 that would rub at full lock of the steering wheel.
Use this chart.Measure the tires on the car now and use the chart to see what size you need in a 17.Scroll down to calculator.

If you are planning future mods for the car,go five lug.
You have some nice rims for 4 lug,but alot more for 5.
If you do the sn-95 spindle swap up front, rotors and pads are cheap. If you stay 4 lug thats more money in your pocket for rims and tires.

That's what I was thinking..... I think i'm going to go the cheap 5 lug for the rear with ranger axles.... your thoughts my car doesnt have many mods to it I just need skins and if i'm going to do it I might as well before I get to modden.......

Rear ranger axle swap is good, and cheap also.Front SN-95 spindle's will be a good addition too.Roughly 125 bucks for a pair, and you are set.

If you stay 4-lug, I always liked the '93 Cobra wheels. I had thought about a set (real at the time) for one of my past Carpis.

I hear ya Jason, there's a guy in Colerain that has a brand new set of 93 cobra's that are the black with the chrome lip and center cap, but he won't budge off $400.00 and the cheapest 17's I can find mounted are $105.00 through "tireguy" on here so if i'm going to do that I might as well do the 5 lug and find some bullets or something and still be less expensive.. how you been doing?
