Semitruck carrying BEER Crashes

All lanes clear of beer

Traffic lanes on the I-70, I-75 interchange are now clear of a lot of beer.

Earlier a semitruck carrying a load of beer, heading northbound on I-75 to westbound I-70, struck the wall and caused debris to fall on vehicles on I-70 and I-75, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The ramp, now open, was closed for cleanup.

"The ramp will be blocked for quite a while ... a couple of hours. The crews have to completely unload the trailor before they can do anything with it," trooper Steven Ilo said. The semitruck driver was transported to Miami Valley hospital.

"It's believed the semi lost its load," Ilo said. The semitruck was left partially hanging over the overpass and emergency crews are working to rescue it and clear any debris. Authorities are unclear on the cause of the accident.

Emergency crews are working to reopen the remaining lanes (westbound 70 and northbound I-75 were closed earlier). Two drivers were injured and transported to Miami Valley hospital, Ilo said.

EARLIER, 12:16 p.m.: The Ohio State Highway Patrol is advising citizens to avoid the I-70/I-75 interchange. OHP reports that a there are multiple accidents. Both sides of I-70 are closed. One side should be opening shortly.

EARLIER: A Butler Twp. fire dispatcher said a beer truck overturned on I-70 at the I-75 interchange (near Exit 61 on I-75) and has forced crews to shut down the highway on both sides. Interstate 75 is still open. There are no fatalities and two injuries.
