So I ran across an article called Baked Goods that was based on a 5.0 mustang and cooling. Apparently you can go to a PNP or your local salvage yard and purchase a 95-2000 Mercury Mystique or Ford Contour V6 model fan and it will pretty much fit perfectly in the 5.0 mustang. It's a dual fan and can really move some air. So I went out yestarday and did this. I have been having nothing but problems with the 2 electric hayden fans I have for the last 3 years. No matter what I would do my car would run hot and wouldn't cool down until I shut it off for awhile. I went daown to the PNP in Carthage and bought one for 30.00. I installed it last night and hooked it up to my fan controller and drove the car to work today. The car never got above 185. The fans would kick on and drop the temp to around 170 or so and then kick back off until the temp got back up to around 185 again. Some of you may have already know you could use this fan but for those who don't, it works great. I did have to buy a different overflow bottle from Autozone and relocate it. The fans cover the whole radiator across. Here's a photo of mine.

I put an amp clamp on mine. With both fans running it was only pulling 24 amps. On start-up it peaked around 85 amps but dropped quickly.

Can you measure how thick it is for me? How much of that shroud could you trim down?

I'll have to take a look when I get home. I know you could trim some of it down. But not a whole lot.
