I have a friend with a 1996 Cobra and his pinion seal is leaking like no other so he's just going to buy another set of gears since he's wanted them anyways. He daily drives and and is wondering would 3.73's be better or 4.10's(for gas millage)? He also tends to do more highway pulls than drag racing..

Mod motors love gear. 4.10s will make the car much more responsive. mpgs will be very close between the two. I'm sure 90% of fellow sbzers will agree.

Would you need to get it tuned with both gears?

Skip any ratio beginning with a 3 and look straight toward 4.10's or 4.30's. I have have 4.10's in my GT now but will likely be swapping them for some 4.30's before fall.

Go 4.10 or 4.30.I went 4.10 and the car ran great while I had it. Best thing I did to the car. I drove that car to North Carolina soon after and the gas mileage was unbelievable. So unbelievable I had to check it 4 times to make sure. In town is where you will suffer a little bit from my experience. If in doubt ask Ken at MD motorsport, or Brent @ Brenspeed.

Let me add my voice - go 4.10. No re-tune needed.

Speedometer will be off if nothing is done and the gears are changed.

Let me clear up what I said. The engine doesn't need to be tuned for gears, but you do need to change the gears the computer thinks you have or the speedo will, indeed, be off.

My wife has 4.30's in her cobra and it's a little much for alot of highway driving but very good other than that. So I say if you drive highway alot go 4.10's if not then 4.30 is the way to go!

4.10 with your probably around 26" tire

if you were running 28" slicks at the track then 4.30's

4.10 will make you happy

4.10's if you run highway stay way from 4.30's
