What tires would you guys recommend for all purpose driving with a 2001 GT? I have a friend looking for some new tires. 17" tires...not sure about the width/heigth.

I would suggest avoiding BFG KDW's. I had them on my SRT4 and they were noisy as hell. It was hard to talk over the tire noise on the highway.

Those are some pretty stiff Z rated tires if you ask me.Pain in the ass to mount/dismount.

They were decent in the rain and handled OK but the road noise was deafening.

2000gt Has these and these tires rock. His car used to kill the michelins then he got these and they hook great. Feel real good for a daily, and dont seem to wear fast.

Here is what bfg says about them :
"Our most technologically advanced tire ever.
Tenacious grip in dry, wet and snow.
Performance never has to take a day off.
Precise placement of aramid fiber directly under the tread provides excellent strength and a consistent footprint with maximized tread contact area.
Generates tremendous cornering force.
Enhanced water evacuation at speed to reduce hydroplaning for confident wet traction even in deep water situations.
Excellent on-center road feel and straight line stability even at high speeds.
More sipes per square inch means more traction. This combined with Snow-hook tread blocks allows for enhanced traction in light snow conditions."

I'm a big fan of the Goodyear F1-GS-D3's. They are great in the rain, aren't loud, but are more on the expensive side of things.

I have these on my car now, they handel pretty well wet or dry. No wheel hop either. When I buy new tires I'm probably going with the Nitto NT05. They got excellent reviews and have not heard a bad thing about them yet.
