Looking for some vacation recommendations, no more than a 6hr drive. We usually take a couple of short vacations every year (4-6day). Looking for something cool to do about the mid to end of summer.

There is always Gatlinburg. Might be able to plan it when a car show is in town. Got some jet skis or a boat?

West Virgina has many nice state parks....eagles nest, blue stone come to mind. Most of the state parks have lodges or cabins you can stay in.

Red river gorge in KY....great area for hiking, camping, rock climbing

Mamouth caves in KY...many cave trips you can take.

Lake Cumberland is only a little over 3 hours away, and you can rent just about any kind of boat you would need like pontoons, ski boats, fishing boats and houseboats of all kinds as well as wave runners if you are interested in such things.

I am a fan of put-in-bay.
But don't bring your wife and daughter.

Since your wife is pregnant and probably doesn't want to do much walking I would definetly not recommend Mammoth Caves. Took the family there 2 years ago and we loved it but you do ALLOT of walking.

Niagra Falls sounds like it would be a good one and you could take the boat tour. If you go there let me know about it because I have been thinking of going there myself.

Chicago is my favorite for a short get away. PIB is also awesome, but not much for a family. I am tired of Gatlinburg, I go there too much.
