KHP is running laser out of a black Ford Flex.

Almost got popped by him on the first turn around after you cross over the bridge on 275sb.

It had no takedown lights and well hidden grill lights. Stock as stock could be. Very hard to spot unless your looking for it.

Thats what it looks like.

Happy Sailing.

Already?! Jeeze. I hate those fuckers the worst. They literally risk life and limb, sitting on the concrete embankment, legs propped up on the motorcycle...to issue an $84 ticket....

There is no KHP.

It's either
KSP - Kentucky State Police
KVE - Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement

If the picture you posted is an actual picture you took of the vehicle then it's KVE because he looks to have a browwn uniform on where as KSP wears grey.

I think that is just a pic of a Ford Flex. I will keep my eyes open looking for it. Thanks!

Ooops...It was a grey uniform.
KSP it was.

Is KSP the equiv to BCI in Ohio?

Edit - yea that is a stock picture

Not familiar with BCI.

But Ohio does not have an equivalent to Kentucky State Police.

KSP pretty much do it all. Respond to calls and patrol large (rural) areas based upon where you are.
They also do a lot of traffic stuff highway related.

Many of our county sheriffs departments only consist of the sheriff itself so KSP is there to assist with those areas.

KVE is now a branch of KSP, KVE is essentially the same as the Ohio Highway State Patrol, where their focus is traffic and commercial vehicles on state roadways.

That's funny that it's just a stock photo because looking at the guy he seems to be wearing a brown/tan collared shirt with a brown tie which is what KVE wears.

Ah that makes good sense.
BCI is the state police here in Ohio. They are who you go to if you think the local cops are fucking an investigation up, and who handles charges against cops while on duty etc....nothing to do with high way enforcement.

What? You might want to check your info.
BCI in Ohio is a crime lab. (Read your own insert.) They will assist in crime scene investigations.
OSP is the Ohio Highway Patrol they do nothing but traffic enforcement and accident investigations on Ohio roadways. The only involvement they have with "local cops fucking up"...as you put it, are when they are involved in an accident. Now I am sure on very rare occasions they have assisted in department I.A. investigations, but not normally. They are not Police Officers and have limited arrest powers.
Ohio Sheriff's Office main function is court security and running a county jail. In a majority of OH counties they provide patrol to rural areas, or areas who contract with the Sheriff for patrol services. The Sheriff's Office is who will usually be the only outside agency to investigate criminal activity within a "local" Police Department.
Local Police have I.A. or Internal Affairs which investigate their own officers. If an agency is too small for and I.A. department, then the Sheriff's Office may assist with an investigation.

Also OH does have actual State Police Officers, but they are responsible for OH Fairgrounds and other state property security.

First of all, read what I wrote carefully. You are responding to a point I did not make. My point was to say it goes -> Local -> County -> BCI (State) when it comes to criminal investigations that citizens want done by someone else.

BCI is the top dog when it comes to citizens complaining about local authorities no handling investigations correctly and yes, IA investigations as well.

That is all....we are all very aware of what the other LE agencies do. BCI also has 3 crime labs, BCI is not a crime lab.

Right.....BCI top dog....that is funny.

Take a look at the recent Dayton Officer arrest for auto theft. Yep arrested by his own department after their investigation.

The top law enforcement "dog" in Ohio is the State Attorney General.

BCI is not a "state" police organization. The provide assistance and services to local and state law enforcement agencies. They do not investigate other law enforcement/departments...they may assist.

Matt's statement is correct...BCI is a resource for state and local agencies.

http://www.ag.state.oh.us/le/investigation/bcii.asp

Ohio Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation, commonly known as BCI, serves as a vital resource to law-enforcement agencies throughout the state.

BCI scientists and forensic specialists provide a critical service for local law-enforcement officials by analyzing DNA, ballistics and other physical evidence that could make or break a case. Likewise, BCI field agents are always on call to respond to crime scenes and assist local law-enforcement agencies with their investigations. Additionally, BCI is home to the state’s Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), which contains the prints of millions along with their corresponding criminal histories, and the electronic Sex Offender Registration and Notification (eSORN) database.

Now, they do have special investigators...here is what their website states that they do...
SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS UNIT - The Special Investigations Unit conducts investigations not normally covered by BCI’s other investigative units. Typical requests include serial crimes, unsolved homicides, public corruption investigations and dignitary protection.

If any outside agency gets involved with an investigation, it's generally the FBI investigating a USC violation(Civil Rights).

Did you see his attorney statement on the news today? Had to look down and read his own clients name...surprised it was not Rion and Rion.

I thought I heard on the news yesterday he could be getting 59 years (?).

This is the guy who retitled impounded cars and sold them as his own, right?

KY is tricky with their unmarked. Everytime I go down that way I see a pewter Camaro pulling someone over.

Seems they are getting very creative with their purchases these days. I have seem a wide variety of different colored Camaros and now Chargers in Louisville over the year. I drove more than 400 miles today and I think I only saw was police officer running radar.

Too many roosters in the hen house if you ask me. Just think about how many of our tax dollars go to them eating there donuts. If they have the money to buy new patrol cars like that, then why is it that they put a gas surcharge on the ticket fee.

Vote NO on all police levies!!!!!! Maybe then they will know what it feels like to not have the money and have someone collecting! Dickheads think it's funny until there in the poor house.

It firsted started with the Fox Body Mustangs that were grey colored. Then they got a few early LT1 Camaros and then some LS1 Camaros. The Lt's are gone and the LS1's are getting old and up on their milage and they are switching over to the Chargers now. Dry ridge station has had a low observable Charger patrolling I-75 area quite often since last year.

I seem to recall seeing a KSP fox coupe patrolling NKY back in the day with a cage in it. I only saw it once or twice but it had one hell of a jungle gym inside.

I saw some crazy stuff in Hawaii when we visited as well. Impala SS, GNs, and even a few Toyota 4 Runners. From what I understand the police department subsidized the purchase of a vehicle if you agreed to use it for work. Not a bad gig I guess.

I believe you read wrong, the Lincoln did the 13.9. The Flex did a 14.5

True, I wasn't knocking it by no means. Just think, upgrade it a little and you could have a high 13 second car. Did I say car? I meant box

Northern Indian has a silver S-197 GT with no external lights or markings. He was running radar along I-80 near Howe on Monday. Very sneaky. I saw a daully crew cab diesel ford with a utiltiy box down on 25E in Tn last week, looked like commercial enforcement, Dark Blue exterior with matching box. It looked out of place because it was way to clean and nice to be a contractors truck.

Being that the majority of the special vehicles come from dealer demo programs and asset forfeiture not much is coming from tax dollars for these types of vehicles. I am guessing KSP spent 0 dollars on It.

Actually looking at the Flex it could make a pretty decent K9 vehicle. KSP and KVE have some Magnums as their K9 cars.
