Well ive finally purchased a block to start my first engine build. I also got an eagle 331 stroker kit. Im planning on building a quick daily driver nothing too radical.I was debating between a 306 or a 331 but it jsut seemed more sensible to buy the 331 as there is no replacement for displacement so they say. I want to stay fuel injected. Any advice is appreciated. Just need some help to steer me in the right direction. Thanks, Zach

What do you have planned for the top side of the engine?

Good choice for the heads. Ed Curtis at Flow Tech Induction or Jay Allen at Camshaft Innovations can set you up with a NICE cam that will run circles around any off the shelf piece.

i have advice ... save your money and put a blower on a 302 ... with your afr 185's, you're going to pull a mid to low 11 and spend thousands ... buy a used $1500 vortech and put it on a 302 ~ 10's and a fraction of the price ...
you would need a custom cam, work done to your afr's and a good flowing intake to tip the 10's ... save your money ...
my 2 cents and coming from a 331 owner ...

Where was that advice 2 years ago, before i spent more than $4000.00 on my heap. I'm on the urge of selling mine. it has two flat tires just sitting in the garage.
Sorry to hi jack your thread. Seriously just toss a blower on it.

But what if i put a supercharger on my 331 then i could be really fast :D but that probably wont happen oh well ya live and learn hopefully its fast enough to satisfy me for awhile. And since you guys have done this before im expecting some information when i start putting it all together :bigthumb

S-trim, twisted wedges, systemaxx, 331,no port work, c4=mid 10's, with suspension work. Victor jr.'s would be a good alternatve to the 185's, both are great, vic jr.'s are cheaper. What type of piston did your kit come with?, what kind of comp. are you going to run.

Well its been a little while since i updated this but its amzing how little your money gets you when building a motor haha but i dropped my block off to CRC automotive to have it balanced and the shortblock assembled. But.... My block i took over there was cracked imagine that. So ive got a new block now hopefully get my shortblock back at the end of this week and start making some progress

Let's see the updates! Haha
Are you going to clean up that timing cover gasket? Looks like you're doing it the right way, I like how everything is neat and out of the way and you've got the fender covers on it.
What are the final specs anyway?

ive seen pics. The motor looks great. You'll like it better than just having the blower
