I am thinking of picking up a .22 hole puncher. After reading some on the internet I am thinking of either a Henry standard, a marlin 39, or a CZ 452 trainer Bolt gun.

Any opinions or other guns in that price range that you would recomend.

Are you looking for bolt action or semi-auto???

Ruger 10/22 is the mustang of 22 LR semi autos.

My all time favorite is the Marlin lever action

I just want somthing different. I think a lever would be cool but the CZ bolt is supposed to be a tack driver. I guess I need to go to the store and see what feels right. I have shot plenty of 10-22s they are great guns I am just looking for somthing different.

Seeing how the Marlin 39 is tube feed like the Model 60 semiauto, I would like it. I HATE load the tube on my 30/30 336, chews my thumb up, so I normally just do one round at a time.

I also have a Marlin lever action that I got when dad died, shoots 38 spl/357 mag.

Thanks Timido.......I see my wallet getting lighter.

check out the savage 17hmr, a little more expensive to shoot than a 22, but almost twice as fast, and more accurate. I picked up a savage mako in 17hmr a couple months ago and love it. Let me know if you want to try mine before you purchase anything.

Raceme has a savage 17hr that I have shot it is very nice but you cant shoot .17 at shooters and I want the cheap .22 ammo. If there is such a thing as cheap ammo anymore

I just picked up a marlin model 60 a few weeks ago. You are more than welcome to try it out.

I have 2 marlin style tube fed .22s. like them alot but love my ruger 10/22 more. You can usually pick them up for less than 200.

Any CZ is a good choice. Bolt .22 will get boring real fast. I say 10/22 or to be different go with the Rem. Nylon 66.

If you are set on a bolt gun, you could always get a Ruger 77/22...

CZs are nice, but they tend to run a bit more.

The one nice thing about a bolt gun is it almost forces you to pause between shots to breathe, work the action and assess your next shot rather than: *bam!*bam!*bam!*bam!*bam!*bam!*bam!*click* Did I hit anything?!?

I have a Marlin and A Remington Tube Fed. I am forgetting the models currently and don't feel like digging them out.
But they are my favorites. I just love shooting a .22LR. Cheap and fun.

Here is my next purchase.
Sig 522 (supposed to be released in July. My store here quoted me $430 hope to have one of the firsts) And it will have 30 round mags:bigthumb

The GSG-5 will be purchased after that though I may get the pistol model of it.

The GSG5 runs between $450 and $500

Both going to be great plinking .22s with lots of accessories if you are into that stuff.

Here is a couple that I have to mess around with Tim. The first one is one of the finest semi auto rifles that has ever been built in my opinion. Its a Thompson Center Benchmark Classic. It will hold a .5 inch group at 50 yds. The next one is a Ruger 10/22-T with the hammer forged barrel. I have not had a chance to get it to the range to form an opinion but over the the years I have modded 10/22's with the great results. This particular gun is built in the there custom shop and is suppose to hold a .5 inch group at 50 yds also. Hope this helps.

I have a Marlin Model 60. Good gun at a reasonable price. Stripped the cheap finish off the stock and re-finished it - looks like a much more expensive gun.

I've got a Remington 597LS 22 Magnum and it's the best lil gun i've ever bought, wasnt the cheapest but it's got the laminant stock, BSA scope with flip ups, lighted reticles and a bull barrel. Pretty cheap to shoot and has way more than twice the knock down of a 22LR.

Well Dicks has everything on sale. As soon as my Delayed paperwork goes through I will be the proud owner of a Henry Standard

I have looked everywhere for a used Marlin 39a No dice. I dont think it is worth paying Twice as much as the Henry Standard H1001

I did see a new Colt M$ in .22LR today That was a BAD boy. http://www.onpointsupply.com/images/colt/colt_umarex_22lr_m4_carbine_1.jpg

That lever will be a good little shooter. Just make sure you keep your trigger finger out of the way when you work the action. A lot of new lever shooters have gotten their finger pinched against the trigger and guard. OUCH!

What price on the Colt M4? You could get a Spikes Tactical .22 upper for ~$650. Add another ~200 for a lower...
