What does everyone think about them? We are thinking about getting a nice 10X10. Sears has them on sale for around $400 or so. What are some pros and cons.

Same boat.figured for 400,if I could get 4 to 5 years outta it,would be worth it.I've got so much junk,lawn stuff, in the garage now and that would help out a great deal.Subscribing. :bigthumb

personally I hate them. They end up rusting and looking like crap. I would rather have have one of those rubbermaid sheds. We ended up going with one from these people...

I agree. My Rubbermaid storage unit is 5 years old and still looks new.

Had a rubbermaid one that wasnt to bad.I ended up getting one from Lowes that is some assembly required.10x10 with a loft.

I have a pre-fabbed steel shed I bought about 4 years ago. Can't remember who I got it from, some dad and son outfit in Goshen. Paid just under $2K for it and its pretty heavy duty.

I have a 10x10 steel shed been at this house for 20 years, It has been vinyl sided and had a shingled roof added to it. Looks good and work great.

Have had my shed for 3 years. Still looks great. Was a pain in the ass to assemble, even though they said it was simple. got it from Lowe's, 3 or 4 hundred bucks. Check it out next time you're at the house.

Metal shed, expect to spend another $150-200 for a floor.

At that point you are getting to the point of a average built wood shed that can be delivered if you have enough access.

I remember when I was about 10 or so my Dad and I watched our metal shed become a kite in a windstorm. The next day we were putting a wood one up in the backyard.

Don't know. I was going to do like Brian has and put plywood on the outside and hang the siding. I think they give you the beams to run and you buy the wood.

Don't keep anything of any substantial value in it. They can be peeled open with nothing more that a drill bit or screwdriver and a pair of shears in a matter of a few minutes.

Without a doubt. It's just much easier and quicker to get into a metal one...and with most common meth head thieves, the easier, the better.

with our 2 dogs in the back I think we may be alright. plus with the new welder I may have to strengthen up the easy spots.

You can't really weld that crap it makes them rust faster. i really want one of the fiberglass ones that have a floor. Sams club has them for about 800 last I saw.

Mine is on concrete slab, with frame built around it with vinyl siding hung on it. this was done over the corse of 20 years. It looks good and functions well. Also has a plywood roof with shingles. That needs some love tho.

For the money Bob you can't go wrong, wood sheds are the way to go but a beginner shed can start out around 1000-1200 on up.

Ever think about just adding a shed roof and about 8' off the back of your garage?



I'm not really sure of what kind of set up you have now, but it's an idea.

I put up a 10x14 from home depot. Remember you may need a building permit. In lexington it is anything 10ft square or bigger. I wish I would have sprang for a wood shed. The roof leaks, gaps in the sides, but the biggest thing is how easily the sides dent. My son and the dang basketball have dented several panels( not to mention breaking my rose bushes) All sheds will blow away though in high enough winds. You need tie down kits. Only problem with them is the heavy clay here I kept breaking the spiral off the shaft screwing them in. As for the floors if you stay with the metal pouring a slab is better. Plus you could just put eye bolts in the slab for the hold downs

I had a wood shed put up about 5 years ago, it still looks like new. When shopping for a wood shed, don't just focus on price, some use osb vs. plywood floors, 2x4 vs. 2x6 walls, 24" vs 20" on center. A wood shed will increase your property value, I'm not sure a metal shed would. You will need to paint a wood shed also, so that will run the cost up a little bit.

Well we decided to build ourselves a wooden one afterall. We have to build a deck so we might as well buy everything at once. Already have the siding and shingles that we got for cheap.
