Whoever has had them will understand. These little fuggers hurt like hell, this is the second I've had in 2 years and they say once you have them you are prone to keep getting them. For those who havent it happens all at once and is enough pain that you cannot get comfortable any way. I had to go to the ER monday at about 1 am and normal pain medicine doesnt help. I was rolling around the hospitol bed in pain until they finally gave me morphine. I got out about 3.5 hours later and went home still in mild pain through out the day on and off. Then later it came back hard enough to make me nauseaus again for the fifth time and had to ride it out for about 3 hours. Today wasnt bad except I drank enough water to drown a fish and now its starting to hurt again:mad: I hope like hell I dont have another night like monday.

Hey Mike, I get and pass stones on a regular basis. Actually lost a kidney 10 yrs ago from it. Mine are from Protein, so I have to watch how much I eat, drink lots of fluids and take some meds to help keep them from forming. Anyone who hasn't had one has no idea what they're in for! Hope you pass that bugger soon.

You can get them from a bunch of different things, pop wont cause them, but it's not good for your kidneys either. My last couple of Urologists have said Mt.Dew is the worst thing you can drink.

Kidney stone is probably the worst pain i have ever felt.i have had 2 and the last one was just passed last thurs. When its over and it finally passes you look at the stone and ask yourself how did something that small put me through so much pain.

yeah i drink nothing but water and coca-cola and i asked the doc if that would cause it cause i also always heard that is what they are from (soda pop) and he said definitely NOT.??but i belive im gonna have alot of problems with i get pretty bad pains from em probably once a week.they are definitley no joke.

I had two for certain of the little bastards and they are no fun like everyone has said. Fortunate to have been able to pass mine but I have had some friend who had to go to the ER and get them cut out as they lodged in the urinal tract. I understand that there are two kind; protein ones like somebody said and then some calcium ones. Yeah, pop and even tea can be bad as well as lots of red meat. I have been told that the calcium ones can get broken down when you drink a lot of pure lemon juice (I mean a lot) and then follow by drinking water to help flush out. I hate them with a passion and yet months later am back drinking pop as usual. Prolly should stay with beer instead! :D

The first one I tried to flush with plenty of beer but that didnt work out so good.

I had one a few years ago. I rolled arround in bed moaning for about 3 days and then finally it passed. The only time I was comfortable was when I was puking:lol:. I kept thinking it either needed to come out or I needed to die. I was fine with either.

Yeah dude, I feel your pain. It only happened to me once because I gave up drinking beer for lent. My sister is a nurse and took me to the ER because the pain was so intense and I was starting to turn gray. They gave me morphine and it didnt even work! Then they had to give me this shit called diloted. That shit was probably like shooting up smack. I was so out of it, but it felt fucking awesome!! My sister was monitoring my breathing, and at one point I only took 3 breaths in one minute. Then she started to slap my face to make me come to, otherwise I might have just stopped breathing. At any rate, the pain fucking sucked!!! One nurse told me that she has given birth, and also had a kidney stone, and the pain from the stone was far worse. She said it is comparable to a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
They never found a stone, so I guess I passed it.
Moral of the story is dont stop drinking beer!!!!!!

I wouldn't wish those on my worst enemy

I have had more than I can count...had to have two of the little buggers removed surgically. Morphein doesnt kill the pain, it just makes you not give a crap you hurt. Its like a hot sword stuck deep in your side and someone is twisting it. I had one that I was awake for 5 solid days with the pain until they could go in after it.

I come from a family that has had problems. My mom said they are like childbirth except the pain doesnt stop.

I feel for you! My Doc put me on some meds and I drink a lot of cranberry juice. Luckily the last couple I passed easily. The key is finding out what the stones are made of. Stay hydrated and cut the salt. Oh, my Doc said beer isnt a good idea, but yet if it makes you pee a lot - what the hell, go ahead - drink the cheap stuff!

when you pass the stone or stones, does it come out of your pee pee?

..... I wonder if you feel it squirming down your urinary tract and have to hold your pee pee as it exits?.... :)

ahh, I'm sure it sucks.. I've heard it's pretty excruciating pain..
Something I hope to never deal with... ;)

Yep, on more than one occasion I had one on the way out of my unit and ran out of pressure. You wanna talk about uncomfortable! You scurry around the house drinking everything in site, hoping to be able to push it the rest of the way out ASAP!

They're actually crystallized, think rock candy. Jagged edges and everything. It's cutting you on the way out. The crazy thing is that isn't where the pain really comes from. The pain is from the spasms your U.T. goes through trying to move it through your system. Suffice to say, it really really sucks!

Imagine those same style crystals in your joints.

Acute Gouty Arthritis (Gout) IMHO is more painful than kidney stones.

Yes, I've passed stones before, the pain was over quickly. Laying in the bathroom at work after passing out wasn't my idea of fun though. Last summer I had a MAJOR gout attack that nothing would dull the pain. Even the air from the fan or a sheet on my foot prevented sleep.

When i was a teen i was at a buddy's house and his dad passed a stone, it had to be almost the size of a dime. I don't know how it didn't shred his urethra. We actually heard this thing hit the bottom of the toilet like dropping a rock into the water. He came out with tears in his eyes and every male in the house could feel his pain.

Dilotted is synthetic herion just FYI....... I've had about three week long hospital stays where I get 10m every hour on the hour, they even wake me up to give it to me... and talkn about happy..... BOY!!!!!!!!! they are suppose to give it to you very slow, well the first time I got mine was at good ol Anderson Mercy and the nurse stabbed that plunger, my head rocked back, jaws clinched........ then it was like I melted....... there's nothing better for pain!

I had them at 7 months pregnant. They do nothing for you, except put you on a baby monitor to make sure the baby is ok. They don't give a damn about the mom! Haha Finally passed it and peed out 2 liters of bloody urine. Good times! I feel for ya man, they are awful.

After reading all of these wonderful refreshing accounts of the pain caused by these little bastards...I think I would rather swap spit with Rosie O'Donnell.

I have a buddy who fights Gout, it sounds painful as hell. At least a stone is there for a while and then its gone.
To the guy who talked about the Delodid, that's the best pain medicine I've ever takin. I hear you should never ask for it by name though, they'll think your looking for drugs.

Before I knew what gout was, it would flare up on long road trips in my left ankle.......say on a four trip back from Detroit.

Here's a funny story for you. Rick and I were at my parents about 13 years ago, we were wrenching on my mustang, Rick says he has to go take a leak. He comes out about 20 minutes later with two kidney stones in his hand (he needed to give them to his Doctor ). My dad and I cringe, then Rick went back to working on my mustang. I'm telling ya, he's one tough dude.
