I have an old oven and an old portable basketball goal(this thing is steel and HEAVY) as well as some other misc scrap metal. Before I haul this stuff to the junkyard myself I thought I would see if anyone here wants it.

put it out by the street, someone will grab it for you.

Neighbor who is out of work makes about $100 a day from scrap, but spends $20 in gas doing it. $80 a day, on unemployement, doing what he has to to keep food on the table.

scrap value is crap right now. I loaded my truck to capacity and they paid me $19..... that was steel. The aluminum I had almost 700lbs and didn't even get 100bucks...it isn't worth the time right now. Over the summer it was worth about 10 times that.

The oven, I think Keith may take for the Spring Farm Party. The BBall goal, I think you may be on your own.

Shoot Keith a PM about the oven. I think he's always looking for stuff to blow up, haha!

Scrap is down to about $40 a ton for us. I don't see it going up much for quite a while. makes me really glad I hauled everything I could find when it was $200 a ton.

Kenny, I think the County Garage on Ind Station rd will take it.

On a related note, is there still a market for old catalytic converters? I have about a dozen at my mom's house, but if I'm going to get $50 for them, it's not worth it.

I took a load of junk off a week ago and got $60 a ton for it over here in Indiana. One place just across the border in Ohio only offered $50 a ton for "clean" steel and $40 a ton for appliance type stuff. It's way down from what it was last year at this time, but there are still a bunch of people willing to collect stuff.
