Are you going to be at the cruise in on Sunday if it doesn't rain? I just put Comp 270's in mine. I picked up 38HP and 9 ft-lbs.
yeah should be there hopefully it doesnt rain
anyone know if the vt stage 1 cams will drop in to the pi swap motor and not have any valve to piston issues?

VT stg. 1 & 2 work when installed properly. With any mod motor cam installs you will want to degree them. The factory cam gears can be way off.
right but will i have to retard or advance them or will they bolt straight up?

You should be able to install them without retarding the cams but they still need to be degreed to make sure the valves open and close as they are intended. Quality control on the ford cam gears is so poor you may have one gear that is 4 degrees retarded and the other may be 4 degrees advanced.

yep if you want to do it right you need to degree the cams in since you did the swap instead of the PI motor. With the extra .050 lift you run the risk of introducing your pistons to your valves. Degreeing in the car is possible but be prepared to take some tylenol. Your back will start to get mad at ya after the first hour.
ok cool and exactly how do you degree and overhead cam i know how to do the pushrod motors

you can grind a stock key way and save some money. I did it to mine 2 times. You can also shim the open gaps if you choose to for piece of mind.
that kinda scares me a little ill figure it out
what is the best tool to change out valve springs on the motor

I think this is suppose to be the best but I can't say for sure since I had someone else install my cams.
http://www.aumauto.com/otcfovaspto.html (it can be found cheaper this was just the first link)

there is the OTC tool http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=OTC-7928&autoview=sku
I think Trick Flow makes one too for cheaper. Just throw some air in the cylinders and change the springs.
what about going with a npi cam like the comp cams xe274h to avoid the piston to valve clearance issue?

Go with Modular Head Shop stage IIs, CMS stage Is or Hi-tech Stage I's. You will have about .005 clearance with a stage II cam from CMS or Hi-tech unless they are retarded which if they are, then you aren't really making the power you could. I'm going with these. Talk to Nick Mckinney he will hook you up:

I'm buying the stage IIs in a month
46PI STAGE 2 - NATURALLY ASPIRATED
225/223 550/500 110/110 110
Max effort cam for stock PI heads, 5 speed or 3000 stall torque converter recommended. Crown Victoria/Marquis/Town Car, Thunderbird/Cougar, and trucks should have the torque converter changed. Rear gear of 3.73 minimum recommended.
If you have a PI head swapped vehicle with stock valves still in it, this is the cam for you!
sweet do you know of any power gains from those or is it about the normal 20-30 rwhp

Depending on exhaust/intake mods, 25-35rwhp with a dyno tune. Guys with cms stage IIs and hi-tech stage 2's hit 285-300rwhp with most bolt ons. I'm going with those cams because they are designed for stock heads and are similar to the hi-techs. I'm spraying the car too so cam wise the LSA is somewhat important. There is a guy with 479rwhp on mustangforums with cms stage IIs and a 150 shot.
sounds good im thinking of the spray too and i like that they work with stock springs too. i do not want to have to change them they look like a b*tch
