water pump question

i am running only an alternator, water pump, and the crank in my belt set-up. i have a detailed drawing to show you...:lol: anyways my question is does a standard 5.0 pump have to flow a certain way, and is mine flowing the wrong way? i've been having cooling problems even with a 2-row alum radiator.

I think the way you have it the water pump is spinning clockwise . I used to run mine with only the waterpump and alt. and I ran the belt straight from the alt. to the crank and it still touched the water pump enough to spin it and I think it was spinning counter clockwise. I didnt have any cooling problems that way .

alright. i'll try to change the belt then. i know that on my mom's 5.0 the belt runs under the pump pulley. so that is probably my problem.

anyone know if they make a reverse flow pump for a 5.0?
