Im asking for a friend with an old fairlane ... He bought a set of J 302 heads ... Do these flow as well as GT40P heads? ...

Its a 3100 lb car, running 12.90's ... Trapping 104 mph ... I figured with some cheap P heads, he could really pick up (108-110 mph) ...

Thanks for any help ...

Found this info on the corral board

J 302 head was supplied to ford from Alan Root, (AR). THe heads shipped with a dual bolt pattern exhaust port, allowing someone to run a conventioinal horizontal bolt pattern 302 variant header, that was common in the era, normally a 1 5/8" tube. THen it also allowed use of the cross bolted pattern that was common to the larger heads, and could adapt up to a 1 3/4" header. As shipped the head was small enough to go on a warm street engine, and perform well. It shipped with a 1.94" intake and a 1.6" exhaust valve. The head has a 64CC combustion chamber and is an inline, "no cant" valve head. Mildly ported the intake can flow around 280 the exhaust is down around 180 or so. All out numbers, I don't know.

Ford later offerd the same head but had the intake opened up for a 2.02" valve, and sold it as a K302 head.

According to the 1989 ford motorspoerts catalog, the j302 head is an aluminum head with 1.94 intake and 1.60 exhaust valves. stud mount rockers, dual exhaust header bolt flange. no exhaust crossover or egr.
58cc combustion chambers.
170cc intake port volume
60cc exhaust port volume
accepts stock intake M -9424-a321/341/302 and exhaust manifolds M-9430-j302/351
original suggested retial was $650 each and I believe that was bare.

those are the first alum head ford offered, they have a tilted exh bolt pattern and need the headers to match, they were basically a ported set of windsor heads cast in alum.
i had a set on my old capri that were maxed out 288cfm int and 229 exh went 10.90's on 324ci. all motor.
they made two versions 2.02 and 1.94 int valves.

For what it's worth, my stroker has ported 351 heads on it....if these heads are anything near as good as mine, i'd love to be rockin a set especially since they'll accept 1 3/4 headers.
