I believe in the message it sends but IMHO the only true way to let the senators know how the people stand is on election time. The Gov.needs a complete overhaul.

I agree... but why is Obama waffling on gun control? Because he knows he doesn't have the votes from the blue dog senators... let them know how is feel and perhaps?? They will think before they vote!!

I agree about moving to Texas. :D

I support the Tea Party but unfortunately I have to go to work today so I can pay taxes.

BTW, Texas better be careful since Homeland Security is blowing the hron saying right wing extremist groups are on the rise and they're watching groups calling for more states rights, etc.

With attitudes like this you are exactly correct.

If you believe in something you need to stand up for it and show what you are there for. If you don't you are exactly correct nothing will come from it.

Will something come from it immediately no, but it only helps get the word out and build a foundation. You have to start somewhere. For the most part this is a conservative movement. Conservatives have been sitting back doing nothing for far too long.
It's good to see people getting up and saying what most people have been feeling for a long time.

Term limits might help some of this. Look how many long term politicians have been in congress. I mean, WTF has Senator Ted Kennedy actually done in the past 30+ years, or ANY 20+ year congressman?? I will tell you what they have been doing, whatever it takes to get re-elected.

Im just wondering how long it will be before the US Armed forces is used to fight Americans. :(

I went with a friend's dad. I was proud to see the turnout. We didn't even know where to sign the petition. There were several black protesters protesting our protest, HA! ACORN was even there, that made sense. Apparently they thought we were the KKK. They kept screaming stuff about us being racist, and chanting "Africa" over our chants of "USA". One woman was screaming, "I've got a camera on you white man!" as she shoved it in several people's faces. It's strange how they're so ignorant that they think we were all there because we hate having a black president.

Hi
I agree term limits will definitely help!!

As far as American troops ... it is just a matter of time in my mind!! Of course homeland security says anyone getting out of the service and any protesters should be on a terrorist watch list!! Maybe i made it today!!;)

"Brigade homeland tours start Oct. 1

3rd Infantry’s 1st BCT trains for a new dwell-time mission. Helping ‘people at home’ may become a permanent part of the active Army
By Gina Cavallaro - Staff writer
Posted : Tuesday Sep 30, 2008 16:16:12 EDT
The 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team has spent 35 of the last 60 months in Iraq patrolling in full battle rattle, helping restore essential services and escorting supply convoys.
Now they’re training for the same mission — with a twist — at home.
Beginning Oct. 1 for 12 months, the 1st BCT will be under the day-to-day control of U.S. Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command, as an on-call federal response force for natural or manmade emergencies and disasters, including terrorist attacks.
It is not the first time an active-duty unit has been tapped to help at home. In August 2005, for example, when Hurricane Katrina unleashed hell in Mississippi and Louisiana, several active-duty units were pulled from various posts and mobilized to those areas.
But this new mission marks the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to NorthCom, a joint command established in 2002 to provide command and control for federal homeland defense efforts and coordinate defense support of civil authorities."

If it says Incumbent (that would be the person currently in office), vote the other party!! BOTH parties have shown that they ALL need an overhaul so your past convictions should be tossed out the window.

I wonder what would happen if every 2-4 years there would be a NEW group of congressman hitting the chairs. Lobbyists wouldnt know what to do!!

545 PEOPLE
By Charlie Reese

"Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash.

The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to...

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

"If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red .

If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ , it's because they want them in IRAQ

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!"

(or if we simply impeached those who are the most outrageous the rest would see the American people won't stand for this pulling the wool over our eyes...and "shape up" and run financially responsible ships instead of building memorials to themselves or taking the easier route of borrowing our nation into debt the interest will never allow us to pay off.........Federal, State and County... "a few clean brooms" would make the rest sweep cleaner)

If the representatives of the people betray their constituents, there is then no resource left but in the exertion of that original right of self-defense which is paramount to all positive forms of government, and which against the usurpations of the national rulers, may be exerted with infinitely better prospect of success than against those of the rulers of an individual state. In a single state, if the persons intrusted with supreme power become usurpers, the different parcels, subdivisions, or districts of which it consists, having no distinct government in each, can take no regular measures for defense. The citizens must rush tumultuously to arms, without concert, without system, without resource; except in their courage and despair. The usurpers, clothed with the forms of legal authority, can too often crush the opposition in embryo. The smaller the extent of the territory, the more difficult will it be for the people to form a regular or systematic plan of opposition, and the more easy will it be to defeat their early efforts. Intelligence can be more speedily obtained of their preparations and movements, and the military force in the possession of the usurpers can be more rapidly directed against the part where the opposition has begun. In this situation there must be a peculiar coincidence of circumstances to insure success to the popular resistance.

If I wasn't a right-wing extremest yesterday for attending the tea party, I'm sure I am now for quoting Hamilton.
