We took the hatch to Maaco in 2004. I did all the body work and took them the car bare of all trim and moldings. They just had to scuff and shoot. Here we are 5 years later and except for chipping on the front bumper cover I'm happy for my $1800 investment. Just be sure to pay for the color sand and rub out!!! Plus it came with a 5 year warranty.

I have a maaco paint job on one of my cars . It looked good for about a year and then it cracked up BAD ( looks like someone ran 80 grit sandpaper all over the car ) . I cant speak for others , but my 1 and only experience was VERY BAD . It is now the worst looking paint I have EVER seen.

wow not bad at all.. might have to reconsider my opinion of Maaco. What do you mean by rub out? Just the scuffing?

Ill try to see if I can get some picts of my maaco paint job tomorrow. Mine is so bad the ENTIRE car will have to be stripped down before ever being able to repaint it .

I had a cowl hood for my 69 Camaro painted by Maaco about 20 years ago, they actually did a very good job. Not sure how they are now though.....

What I've heard about Maaco is that they can do a good paint job if you pay them for it. Don't think you can go in there with the " gimme the 200.00 paint job " mentality and thinks its going to be great. For 1800.00 I would expect them to do a damn good job, considering what their low end jobs cost. It sure looks good in the pictures there! What do they call that blue?

I had the rear hatch on my Focus done about a year ago at the Maaco near Beechmont Ford. I am satisfied and the price was reasonable.

All i can say is you get what you pay for. If you want a quick cheap paint job they can do it but it wont last long i give it a year if that.

Paint work prices are 90% prep if the price gets cut they cut the prep and that is the main thing that makes or breaks a paint job. If it is a car your keeping pay the money for it to be done correct (doesn't hurt to find a gearhead that likes your car too). If you can't afford to do it correct then keep saving it will be worth it.

Call plated get him to paint it ! It will get you in the magazines (well that and a big wheel stand!)

That's Sonic blue off the '03 Cobra's (paint code SN)

You get what you pay for !!!!!
Don't expect a $1500 paint job to stand up to a $4000+ paint job....

I had them sand the color coat before shooting the clear, then had them rub/polish the whole car out with 3M finishing rub. This car is still baby but smooth 5 years later.

If you get involved with the guys there and help them out by stripping the car down they don't mind doing a good job. Hell I supplied the 3M compound and pads plus did all the body work for them.

I wouldnt trust maaco to paint my rusty old Plymouth Scamp!

Which is why I do all my own work.
