I just noticed a couple of spots I need the frame repaired in my 89 convertible. Is this going to be a big job. Should the piece be cut out and new welded in. How much do you think it will cost me. Any advice would be appreciated.

Yes replace it, rust keeps coming back. Might be a big job, but fix it right or fix it again later.

Pack the hole full of newspapers and spackle with JB Weld.

You gotta get all the affected metal out, and weld a new section in. No good way around it.

Sounds like a frame shop would have to do it. A convertible seems like there a little limber in the first place. Sounds high dollar. Doe's anyone on the board do that type of work.

Dont know if it would have to be a frame shop or not, any chance you could get a pic of the effected area? maybe post it up and others could get a look at it

I had to do the frame rails on mine. Check my coupe pics. Not something I want to do again but it turned out well. I used 2 inch by 3 inch tube. Seems strong.
