Have the need to go wireless in the house every now and then. Let me know what you have - trades and freebies always welcomed!

(Just need the router and some help getting it set-up)

I have a WAP54G that I'll trade for a case. And if you live by me, I'll even come set it up

I like all in one units (modem/router/wireless), you don't run into occasional ip conflicts like you do with multiple units. Do you use phone or cable for your internet service.

I'm interested in a wireless set up, too. If Dave gets some response and has to choose, I may be willing to take one of the left overs.

:eek2: :eek2:

No friend, IP conflicts have nothing to do with that. Additionally, the all in 1 units are complete bricks. They usually have internal antennas, they are noisy (RF), if you "Rent" one from your cable phone company it will be some complete hunk of propritary (or close to it) shit.

That's not my experience. I have had both setup's, my modem/lynksys setup had to be reset about once a month. I know people that had to reset them weekly. I know people that almost never need to reset them. I don't know why anyone would rent a modem/gateway. From my experience, the all in one units are great, and available for purchase at most electronic retailers, or through your ISP. I deal with the 2wire 2701hg quite often, works great. Avoid motorola 2210 modem's, they seem to fail alot. Also, in areas where rf noise is a problem, the 2 wire is great. All standard modem's that I have used (motorola, speedstream, westell, netopia), are designed to boost signal, which works great in out lying areas, but also boost noise in high rf areas( anywhere near a radio station).

Don't get me wrong, I don't know everything, and I'm not an IT specialist, but I do like all in one units better, for home use.

It's not a life altering decision either way, good luck.

Isn't WAP54G just an access point, not a router? WRT54G would be what he needed.

Dave, wish I could help. All I have is new stuff in stock and I think the cheapest thing I have is a WRV200 but it's an overkill for what you would need.
