i am building my 85' for track use. i want to pull out my stock wiring and only wire up the bare necessity. all i need is a push button start and brake lights. can someone point me to a wiring diagram that shows a basic ignition/starter/battery set-up. i also want to know what parts i need to save from the stock wiring(brain box, black box, ecu?) it is going to be a manual choke 4bbl 302 w/t5.
any advice is appreciated. all i need is a running car and brake lights that is it!
thanks in advance...

AARC (http://search.ebscohost.com/Community.aspx?user=s9048444&password=password&site=autorefctr&return=y&authtype=uid&ugt=723731963C0635473786354632453E4225E364D3691364 9369E321E336133503)
You will have to come up with a bypass for the clutch or leave that part of the system intact. Or find the jumper clip out of an auto assuming that it is a stick car. The aarc has nice diagrams of wiring, should be able to find brake light wiring along with brake switch on the pedal. The engine harness should be easy enough to remove at the firewall. May want to think about leaving internal harness though.

I would start from scratch and use a MSD ignition, MSD distributor, and a single wire GM alternator. You should be able to wire this up with a Master On Switch and a Starter button.

You might also consider one of the "Painless" wiring systems. Sometime it is much easier to rip everything out and start from scratch (ask me how I know). Painless makes some basic kits that will get you what you need and leave a bit of room for adding a few things as well.
