Just curious to see if the people out there running an electric water pump on a windsor were happy and what improvments they have seen over a belt driven one? In the market to possibly buy one....

I run a meizere on my 347...works good. Really nice for cooling down the car quick at the track between passes.

thats what i have heard, i also hear that you can run like a restriction to the thermostate is like a rubber plate with a hole in it and it wonr run until the car gets hot enough or you can run it on a switch. How are you running yours?

I just have mine setup on a switch....no restrictions. I usually just turn it on right after I start the car.

does it help with cooling? I have issues with my 302 radiator and belt driven water pump, i have a lincon mark fan and it does the job but it constantly runs. Im just afraid that if i put a bigger alum rad in it, i wont have enough room for my fan that is already trimmed. it might hit the belt driven w.p. your thoughts??

Not sure if it flows more coolant per minute than a belt driven or not...think the meizere is rated at 50gpm. It pumps enough to keep my R block 347 cool...but I also use an afco alum radiator and electric fan. Don't know if you would have a clearance issue or not. The meizere pump I use is the one for a 5.0..but without the idler pulley on it.

ya but im running a 351

That doesn't matter, a standard pump from a 302 is the same as a 351.

I just have been running into cooling issues with a 302 radiator trying to cool the 351. Want to buy an alum one with more rows but still wanna use my mark fan. Just thought there might be clearence issues with the pump and the fan, just seeing what people thought about an electric one and how they ran theirs

Well a good radiator makes all the difference in the world. Your radiator could be bad/clogged and not working efficiently. I would start by addressing that long before I switched to an electric water pump.

I agree, i was going to do that. I was also thinking about cooling it at the track though

I run the big mezziere i think its 50 gph and alm rad it keeps my 408 with 13.5 to1 cool . I few years ago i tool it up to the dream cruz in 90 degree heat and idleing for a few hours in traffic never got over 180 . I have switched fans and never notice a differance i have a black magic extreeme but i have a 70 buck litlle junk fan on it and never noticed much . But last year i put a hole in the alm rad and put the stock on in and it ran alot hotter . One thing u might want to look at is if you have underdrive pullys it will not cool as good idleing and make sure you have the right waterpump on there .. There is a few are differnt rotation

Thanks for all the help guys, I am going to start with an alum rad, then see if that works a bunch? Then upgrade to a electric water pump. It just drives me crazy to hear that dang fan run all the time.

I run an electric pump on mine... worked good... then I removed the thermostat that had a hole drilled in it for flow... and it works Great now.
