I've never ran a set since I read they don't fit well with a D&D k-member..but I have seen enough sets on 8.2/9.5 deck motors to say they all seem to have the collectors sit low. My Hooker 1 3/4" super comp long tubes fit tight up against the floor boards....almost to tight.

A good friend of mine runs the Kooks on his American Iron car (2000 body), they do seem to hang excessively low, he has curbed them several times. If I remeber correctly, I only think he gained 3 hp (chassis dyno) over using the Shorties. Not sure if they are worth the expense. They are certainly a pain in the ass to try to install without pulling the motor.

I had mine on my car(81 with a 408W) and they were flat on the bottom. Trying to get them to go onto my open trailer sucked. I always had to lay 4x8 planks on top of the trailer or it would hit the cross beams as I went up on it. They do hang very low.

I used to run Kooks and they did hang very low , rubbed the steering shaft, and wouldnt fit with my k/ member at the time . They did have VERY bad customer service also .

That's exactly what I have to do to get on and off my trailer. It just sucks to spend good money and have it fit like that. I don't drive it on the street right now cause I'm afraid I'll rip them off on a curb or whatever. We'll see how the customer service goes. If not, I'll be calling juiced347 to see if he needs them. :)

They were not too bad for customer service for me...but one was totally destroyed...I don't remember which one but it was because they hung so low. The first time they sold me just one to replace the one. The last time it happened they would only sell them in pairs. They work great but it sucks they can't put them together any better than they do. Good luck and let me know what happens.

alot of people just run the 8.2 deck headers with a 9.5 with kooks or with hookers so they dont hang so low . if you run a kooks 9.5 header with a 9.5 they hang way low !!!!

Go with Bassani . Darryl Bassani is a great guy and does alot for the racers . Kooks on the other hand were really rude and unhelpful when dealing with them in the past .

Kathy,
I had 8.2 deck with Kooks this past year and yates headed 9.5 deck the year before and they both were way too low ended up dropping the frontend this past year and rubbing holes in the tubes. Bassani Bassani Bassani!
