im lookin at an sn95 its an auto with a 5.0 in it...it has 145 on it and runs good, but the trans slips a little when shifting from 1st to 2nd.. paint is ok shape but it has the sun fading problem...it mostly bone stock...just seeing wat you all think about these cars..or should i stick with my 79 that i have it just needs some work..let me know wat you think thanks:bigthumb

I personally like the 5.0s in that bodystyle. It's a little down on HP, compared to the '87/'93 5.0s, but it depends on what you going to do with it, and if you prefer a 5 speed. They have improved anti-lock 4 wheel disk brakes, and a nicer interior. The trans can be upgraded with better parts and will last better than original. These cars make great drivers, and with a little paint and aftermarket wheels and exhaust, you'll be riding in style. The '79s left much to be desired when you compare the two side by side.

I thought the HP was the same in both 5.0s just that the foxies ran a little better because they were lighter, but I could be wrong. Anyways I would avoid that particular one if it was me. I would personally look for anything between 87-95 Preferably 89 or up because I believe thats when they switched to Mass Air instead of Speed Density.

The 94/95 were only rated at 215 hp. I have had my 95 since new (180k now) and if you are only looking at minor upgrades, then a 87-93 car will be a way better bang for the buck. I dropped a ton on bolt ons that only got the car to 13.50's .

They do ride nice and are comfy.

Same horsepower, different way to rate them. Ford made some minor changes in their rating procedure and it resulted in the lower horsepower number. That's what i remember/heard. :bigthumb

Fix up the 79! How many 1979 Fox bodys do you see anymore ??

Back in the day, I owned a Fire engine Red 79 Capri R/S. A lot like the one in the pic below except mine had a big black scoop on the hood and the red/yellow RS strips and black interior.

the 95 was getting it to drive to work and maybe the track...the 79 i wanted a weekend warrior and take it to car shows..but the car is white with red interior which i hate...if i did go with the 79 i was gonna change the front end to a newer one so i can have more hood choices but....but you really dont see to many 4eyes left and my dad gave me the car before he died so it means a little to me....

Park the 79 for future use. Spend the big buck and get an 03-04 cobra and be done with it.

03 or 04 cobra ......what fun is that ...put 20,000 into a foxbody and see what u have ...spend 20,000 on a 03 or 04 and you are lucky to buy the car and if so then you may run low 13 in the quarter....where as a foxbody you will be getting a parachute mounted and applying for a nhra license

ok i will stick with the 79 but wat do you think about changing the front endAbsolutely NOT!!

Don't molest an original 4-eye'd Fox man!! :dummy:

They can be made to look great!

Here's over 26,000 pics of 4-eyes to choose from....

Also, changing colors of interiors is NOT rocket science either.

My friend and i were talkig today about our builds, He brought up that his woman would never understand that our projects will never be done. This is a true and sad part. Sad only for our wallet.

that cobra is a rare case...in my opinon it doesnt take 20,000 to make one run low numbers on the track if you use knoweledge and ask the good people in here what engine and tranny combo...etc....what it takes to go fast...thats all im saying ...some people would rather build their own cars rather than buying one already done.if it was that good of deal then it would already been sold since ebay is worldwide.when a good deal comes up in here its sold immediately

Not a rare case anymore.... Lots of deals out there but people dont have 20g to drop on a toy. I have seen a couple low mi twin turbo Cobras for mid 20s that dont sell. I understand wanting to build it yourself.

If you want to stay on the cheaper side, pick up a 5.0 from an Explorer, decide if you want to go FI or Carb, bolt a t-5 to it and throw an 8.8 under the rear. Go from there. Can't go wrong with a proven combo.

is 79-93 all the same even when they write 87-93 on parts and stuff?

No, the dash and interior changed drastically in 87, they went from carbs to fuel injection in 86 and also the 8.8 rear in 86. There are lots more things but those are the major ones.

but is all the body panels the same right wat bout the shocks and stuff wats all interchangeablePretty much still all the same. Odd ball stuff is different.

I still would NOT hack up/mod a Classic. Personally, I would keep it original looking as possible and just do Performance mods.

Go buy this month's Mustang 5.0 magazine. Great article on the History of Fox body Stangs.
