What a damn shame. It was meant to be a race car not some trophy show car.

super low mile, low production cars don't really interest me...at this point you'd be crazy to spend 95k on it and track it but at the same time it's lame as hell to spend 95k on a paper weight. the "collectors" that made muscle cars into barrett-jackson investments have, I don't want to say 'ruined' the hobby but definitely haven't helped. if you're gonna buy a 93 cobra r to wrap in plastic and drive 88 miles in all its life...just keep the fuggin thing to say you have one until the day you die...don't pull it out of the stupid storage unit for the first time in 16 years and demand damn near 100,000 for it

I think there was a train wreck where several 93 cobra Rs were totaled before they sold. Maybe ford had a lawsuit to rebuild those cars so they had the 100 cars they needed for production racing? I remember about the train wreck and seeing pictures of several cobra Rs that were screwed up

Stuff I found on google serch
IIRC, the run of '93 Cobra Rs was only supposed to be 100 vehicles, but there was a pretty big uproar over how the vehicles were allocated to the SVT dealers. I believe a lawsuit against FoMoCo came into play and they basically settled upon extending the run of R models by 7 vehicles (taking the place of 7 of the "regular" Cobras for the model year)... if you look at the final numbers for '93, there were 4,993 Cobras and 107 R models, so the math kinda makes sense... plus, with this car being #103, it *technically* wasn't supposed to be built, so I'm guessing that's what he's referring to when he says "lawsuit paperwork."
They were called the "Colorado Lawsuit Cars". They were produced after the regular run of R's. There are some differences in the welds and subframes etc...The cars were made only because of a lawsuit by a dealer in Colorado.
so the guy has 2 low mile cars. 95000 seems a bit high, I love the fox body but when I think of what I could do to a 65 fastback with half of that. man. Oh yea. I would drive the hell out of it too....

I had a chance to buy one back in 2001 at KAR in Columbus with only 6,000 orig miles. Price was $30,000 FIRM. Car had never been wet. I didn't have that kind of cash so I bought a regular black 93 cobra with 33,000 for half the price. Since then, I've watched the R's appreciate $7500-$10,000 per year ever since. I should of taken a loan!

The 93R has a lot of collector value. The problem when there were introduced is that so many people bought them and held them as collector items there was not many that were used to race. The 95R was a different story. Interesting fact though, to buy a 93R (as well as the 95R) you had to hold a current Competition License!

Does this answer it?
The 1993 Cobra R was a stripped down version of the Mustang Cobra that was built with the racer in mind. To save weight this competition model was stripped of all but its bare essentials including air conditioning, rear carpeting and the radio system with its speakers and wiring. To further save weight they eliminated all sound dampening insulation, carpet padding, and body seam sealer. Also since a race car rarely needs rear seats they were removed with the seat belts, and seat brackets to further remove weight which also made this the only factory production Fox Body Mustang ever to come as a two seater. To further increase performance the Cobra R was equipped with larger brakes, stiffer coil springs, Koni shocks, larger anti roll bars, and a strut tower brace. To reduce operating temperatures and increase durability at race speeds the "R" was also equipped with a larger capacity radiator and oil cooler. The only exterior difference between the R model and the standard Cobra were it's special five lug wheels. These were actually the same wheels to be used on the newly styled upcoming 1994 mustang GT. To later become known as "Tribars" Ford decided to paint them glossy black and to also polish the center caps and wheel lips to keep them distinguished from the 94-95 wheels. Available in only Vibrant Red, only 107 1993 Cobra R models were ever produced making it one of the rarest, fastest, and most collectible Fox Body Mustangs of all time.

There was to be only 100 cars built. However, orders and deposits had been made already for 107 cars. Ford was not going to build the cars, so the people who got screwed filed a class action lawsuit. To keep the lawsuit from going forward, Ford built the 7 cars. So anyone who has car 101-107 has a "lawsuit" car.
