Well I got my new heads on this weekend and boy are they noisy. They are AFR 185's with with 3/8 studs and DSS 1.6 RR's. I started with a 1/2 turn on all the valves and started it and it sounded like the car was going to blow up. So I left it run a little while and it seemed to get just a smidge quieter but not much at all. So I tore the upper intake and all my nitrous stuff back off so I could remove the valve covers and tried 3/4 of a turn on all of them. I even went ahead and primed it before I started it and it sounds a little quieter at idle but not a whole lot but it is quieter. But if you give it gas it's real loud then. And the higher up in the RPM's you go the louder and angrier it sounds. I checked the witness mark on a couple of them and they are marked just a little below center of the valve stem. What too do now. Any ideas anybody. I thought the adjustable valve train was suppose too be quieter then bolt downn RR's. My bolt downs were 100 X's quieter then this.

When you primed it....did oil come out of every pushrod?

Yes it did. There were a few that seemed like it took forever but yeah I had oil coming out of them all. I did the whole witness more with the valve stem and my mark is a little below center of the valve stem and about .040 wide or narrow.

side note i hope you fly cut the pistons or are useing aftermarket pistons . with afr 185 use must do one or the other becuase of the 2.02 valve . also when you checked for proper rocker tip placment did you use a checker spring or a soild lifter ? if not it will make a big differance
