I just realized that I never created a build thread here. Long story short I am in the final stretch of a build I have been working on Since 2005 when I got my car. The build was originally to be a 302 stroker with ported heads, cams and a KB on top. Since that time the build has changed some and is now still a 302 but with stock heads and cams (for now) with an F1A Procharger instead of the KB and I am also going to be running E85 as the fuel of choice. The guys at Dayton Performance have built the motor and are doing the blower install and tuning as well.

Here is a pic of the car for those not familiar.
http://img373.imageshack.us/img373/4717/finishedmustang0058nq.jpg

Here is a rundown of where the car stands as of right now
Teksid block
Forged Stroker Crank
Forged Rods
CP Custom Pistons (9.0) compression
Stock 3v heads
stock cams
MAC 1 3/4 Longtubes
MAC o/r Prochamber
Procharger F1A
Meziere Electric Water Pump
Fluidyne Radiator
Fore Precision Works Triple Pump fuel hat
(3) GT pumps
Fore Precision Works Billet Fuel Rails
FRPP 80lb/hr high Imp. injectors
TR6060 6 speed trans
Spec Stage 3+
Spec Aluminum Flywheel
Pro 5.0 shifter
Dynotech 3.5" aluminum driveshaft
4.30 gears
Moser 31 spline axles
Detroit Tru-Trac Differential
Greg weld wheels
Mickey Thompson Drag radials
Corbaeu LG1 Seats

The motor was installed just a few weeks ago and had some break in dyno time. My previous best on the stock shortblock was 307/318 and the new motor mad 316/353 before the blower install started. The dynograph shows the previous best on the stock block, the first pull of the new motor and the final numbers before the blower install.

Here are pics of the blower install completed.

Please excuse the dirty intake manifold. It has been covered by my Shaker since 2005 and I plan on cleaning that up.

The final piece I have for now is a short start up and idle vid I took before the fuel system was installed.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-_SZb1JzQM

I am scraping together some extra cash to buy a cowl hood and I am scrapping the shaker hood. I plan on a smaller pulley once the motor gets broken in and after I pay some credit cards off I will add some ported heads and blower cams and turn the wick up some more. That's about all I have for now. Stay tuned for further updates.

Those stripes must be made from Scotchlite?

05yellowgt

I think so. The material is made by 3M if I remember correctly. I just wish that I could have them painted on and get the same effect.

i MAY be able to do some graphics in reflective through the sign place i work for, the one bad side is that the reflective vinyl is a tad pricey...but we have black white and yellow AFAIK

The black stripes on our ladder truck are black scotchlite, I'm figuring that's what your's are too.

Try pricing the reflective vinyl through Galls, it maybe cheaper, not sure though.

Well finally got some electrical issues fixed and found out that the HPX MAF transfer function that they provide is garbage. The tune is only partially done so we only pulled it to 5000rpm so far but the car has made a more than healthy 505rwhp and 550rwtq and shows 12psi on the dyno at the end of that pull. Probably won't get to work on it till next week but Damn I am pleasantly suprised with the power so far. It's picking up about 80hp per 1000rpm so getting it dialed in and winding out to 6500 or 7000 should prove interesting!!!

Ken tuned one similar to yours. It has a D1SC and wasnt corn fed. It dynoed at 610rwhp with 16 lbs of boost. Car looks good and dirty lol. Are you going to bring it to the cruise in this time? I am very surprised you car has more TQ than HP with the Centri. That is very odd. Could it be the E85?

05yellowgt
03-06-2009, 10:39 AM
Well since I haven't pulled to passed 5252 yet the torque numbers are going to be higher than the HP. My car made a lot more torque that I thought it would n/a 353rwtq, with the stroker during break in too. I am planning on taking it down to the cruise, cleaned up even :).

05yellowgt
03-06-2009, 12:33 PM
Ben pulled the car this morning before taking it off the dyno and it made 534 at 4700 because the air fuel was better. I can't wait to really get this thing dialed in. I may max out these 80lb injectors way before I thought on E85. I didn't imagine this much power with another 2000rpm left to go! Might have to slap some BAPs on this triple pump setup too.

Well its been a while since I had an update but the car is finally on the road. The tuning was finally dialed in, only to find that the Spec Stage 3+ was not up to the task and was slipping above 5500rpm so out it came and I ordered a Spec Super Twin SS clutch and flywheel combo and and got it broken in and from the seat of the pants feeling at least it is holding strong. While I was getting the clutch swapped out I also went ahead and opted to drop from 4.30 gears down to 3.73's so that should give me plenty of overhead for trap speed at the track.

The final dyno session should happen sometime next week to get the final numbers.

I also had a set of Aerocatch hood pins installed by Last Chance Garage in Germantown. They did a very good job and they blend in with the hood better than I thought they would. Here is a crappy cell phone pic

The car feels awesome. It keeps pulling harder and harder in each gear up till redline. I'm going to try to get more used to it then head to the track for a run or two before i get kicked out. I'm just really enjoying being able to drive the car again for right now. I think this Saturday I am going to go back to the dyno and see what the final numbers are. I've got almost 600 miles on the new clutch now.

I finally got some time to get the car back on the dyno since installing the twin disc clutch. As some of you already know I found out that my Spec Stage 3+ was not up to the task and was slipping on the dyno. I was able to make 650/605 before the clutch would give out.

The first run netted 671 hp and 597 tq. I was very happy to see no hint of clutch slip at all but the tune was rich up above 6000rpm which is where the clutch was slipping before so it was next to impossible to tune. So we went to work and got the AFR cleaned up pretty well but I think there may still be a hint of blow out by looking at the dynographs. At any rate the final numbers from tonight ended up being 715/616. The plugs are already gapped to .026 so I may gap them down a tad more to see if it helps out. Here's a graph of the first pull of the session and the best of the night.
http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/8144/smoothing0.jpg

I forgot to send myself the datalogs but I do know that I cannot go any further with my current fuel system on E85. I hit very close to 100% duty cycle on the pumps right at 7000rpm. In order to go further I will either have to dump the 80lb FRPP injectors for 96lb or 120lb low impedance injectors, add an injector driver and drop the base pressure back down to 39lbs or scrap the returnless all together and go return. Fuel pressure was stable throughout the pulls.

Not bad for stock heads and cams wouldn't you say? I'm sure there is more in it if it is indeed spark blowout making the top of the dyno jagged like that. Timing is stable and the AFR isn't too bad either so only time and some tinkering will show what the final numbers may end up being. Right now 715 is MORE than enough to say the least.
