I'm striking out big time here with just about everyone I know who has a truck.

I need to borrow or rent a truck to go pick up a car out in Bel Air, Maryland. It's a 8.5 hour trip each way and just around 1,000 miles for the total trip.

I'm going to rent one of the Uhaul tow dollies since the car is fairly light without the drivetrain and just bring it back that way.

It won't be for at least 2-3 weeks since I have a few business trips coming up the next few weeks, and that will be the earliest I can get 2 back to back days off of both jobs.

Also, are you allowed to rent a truck from any company and use it to tow? I'm sure that Uhaul will want the information on the truck I'm using to tow the dolly with and when they see that it is rented, I'm wondering if that will be an issue.

Sadly, the 2.3, 2wd ranger is not up to the task

I don't want to pay $3-400 to have it shipped either.

It will cost you more than $400 in gas, renting a truck and dolly.. If you can get it shipped for that, I would go that route.. Just my $.02

I would figure $150 minimum in fuel. $100 for a dolly, And a $100 to 150 for a truck + the 20 hours on the road

Just got a quote from Cascade shipping, and it's going to be $550 to ship it, which is more than I want to spend.

Well nevermind, apparently you can't use one of their tow dolly's for anything but a one way trip. That is retarded...

Edit: Nevermind, that is only if you use one of their trucks with it.

When are you wanting to get it ? My sister lives not far from there and I could work something out with you, If you wanted me to pick it up, I could visit some family, And get your car.... It would save us both some $$$
Let me know, I can trailer or dolly it for you..

Let me know

There is a website where people who have empty loads (After they drop off) can bring stuff back for you. I forget it though.
