It came on so I checked it out and the front pads looked low. I changed them and adjusted the fluid a bit. The light went off for a while and is back on. It goes off sometimes but is usually on. I called ford and they said the pads have nothing to do with the light. Also the other day on dry pavement under normal stopping conditions the pedal started pulsing like I was on ice. Anyone have ideas? There has to be a sensor somewhere lying to the computer or something that it is slipping.

Try cleaning the sensors and pulse tone wheels with some brake cleaner.

I had the wheel bearing go bad in my 97 Explorer which caused the tone ring to come in contact with the sensor and set off the ABS light. I'm doubt thats your problem but it certainly could have something to do with the sensors being dirty.

Thanks for the replies. I will try cleaning first and go from there.
