I'll update with pics as I can.

What I'm doing:
Pulling engine
Degreasing engine/tranny/engine bay
Stripping engine to shortblock and replacing oil pan, oil pump, pump shaft, timing chain and gears.
Replacing rear main seal, clutch, throwout bearing, etc.
Adding Explorer intake, GT40 heads, FMS 1.6 roller rockers, 65mm TB and EGR
Painting valve covers, front cover, block and heads (maybe all accessories).

Converting to rear disk brakes, adding SN95 MC, sn95 axles, etc.

It's a lot of work, but I hope to get it all done in a decent amount of time.

"started" today with the exhaust removal. For not driving in the salt/ice, etc I have a lot of rust on the bolts. I started without using wd40 and got one nut off. Right now I'm stuck removing the O2 sensors. Those things are in there.

I hate rusty crap.

Thats funny, we're doing the same project pretty much. I started probly about a month ago and my car is completely disassembled. Im almost done painting everything, next major step is reassembly. I pulled my engine and while Im in there puting a good amount of effort into making the engine bay as clean and clutter-free as possible when its done. Check out my thread in this section, its titled My first mustang.

spent some time with the car. Some progress, though you really can't tell by looking at the car.

The engine is just about ready to pull. I have all but removed all of the bellhousing bolts. I just have to completely get them out (few threads on each), remove the starter and the front accesories and then hook it up and remove.

I had a bitch of a time with the h-pipe to header nuts, but it's out.

The engine should be out tomorrow evening and teardown will begin Saturday. Heads will be here Monday. Got the EGR spacer in the mail yesterday. Stopping by Summit tomorrow to get some things.

Well, it is all but ready to pull. I tried to do it without pulling the transmission out of the car, and it is a no-go. A few minutes removing the driveshaft, crosss member, etc and it will be out. Then i have to mount it on the stand and then start cleaning.

Get in touch with Kenny, mustangboy on here. He can do some killer powder coating for you. He did my valve covers, accessory brackets and some little stuff. Looks killer. Going mostly gloss black with mine. Should look good in a gunmetal gray painted engine bay.

Yeah, decent progress. I stil have to drop the tranny, but it is better than yesterday. I thought I'd have to do a lot to the engine bay, but it doesn't look too bad. I may hide soem wires while I'm in there. Just like any project, the more I see, the more I realize I should do.

Hiding the wires really isnt that hard. It didnt even take me long.. The only wire I didnt hide was the main one going across the firewall. Thats where the real difficulty comes in when completely hiding that one, or you can just tuck it under the pinch weld ;). I also got rid of ALL emissions equipment and relocated the battery to the back, this should clean it up pretty good.

Pulled the heads off this afternoon and snapped some pics.

The bores have perfect cross-hatching on them, still. No ridge at the top of any cylinders.

Yeah, I was only a little surprised at the shape of the cylinders. I never had a problem with smoke or anything. I remembered pulling some compression numbers when I first got the car and they were good.

Well, it has been a while since the last update. Nothing major has happened. I did pull the main and rod caps and saw that the bearings were pretty good--barely any wear at all. When I pulled the pan, the stock oil pan gasket was not in place, it was an replacement gasket. That fact suggest to me that something was done to the lower end be it a replacement of the oil pump or a full rebuild, who knows.

Anyway, I cleaned the block and head surfaces and laid the head gaskets in place. I still have to get out there and torque the heads down. Then I have to set the valvetrain (another first for me). Once I do that, I have to take my lower intake to the machine shop to get a boss drilled/tapped for a sensor or two.

In the meantime, I am preparing to pull the axles and putting the new ones in along with bolting up the backing plates and calipers/rotors. Then it is on to the engine bay. I bought some canned rustoleum to paint the engine bay--ghetto, but it will work.

No pics, but nothing good about the engine on a stand, lol.

I did pick up some gauges and a tach, though--just more work for me, I guess.

A little more, today. Pulled the axles and drums and installed the sn95 axles and rotors. I had more on the plan, but never happened.

Gear oil is awesome.

Haha. funnny. Just the opposite. I pulled my booster today just to realize I'm going to try to run my disk brakes with the stock booster. My legs are strong enough, I may be able to get away with it. That thing was a pain in the ass to take out, too. At least I can finish painting the bay, now.

Kate's been sick, plus it is her birthday, so I'm trying to take care of all of the house stuff today--dishes, laundry, cleaning up after the mutts, yada yada.

I still have a while to get it done.

You'll be fine, I'm still running the stock booster with a 93 MC and the pedal feels smoother and more solid than stock.

Yea, the most important part, IMO, is getting the pushrod length, coming out of the booster correct. If you get that how you want it, the pedal will feel awesome.

What MC are you going with? I'm interested to see how yours turns out.

I have an sn95, but not sure if I want a cobra unit or not. I may just use this one. It a bore of 1-1/16th inches, so it may be even softer, I guess.

still working on the car. I've got a few little things done, but I hope to get some good work done this weekend.

I've been collecting/ordering/receiving these parts

Cobra Master cylinder
Stainless rear hard lines
Braided stainless brake lines
adjustable prop valve
prothane motor mounts
various gaskets.

This weekend I hope to get the engine buttoned up and ready to put back into the bay (only have to install the lower intake for that).

I'll have all of my brake parts either in the garage or on the way, so the brake system should be buttoned up by next weekend.

I, then have to run my lines for my gauges. . . somethign I'm nervous about, but . . .

Hopefully by the middle of March, she'll be back on the road.

Well, I got a few things done today.
I spent the day pulling my transmission, cleaning it up, then pushing the car out of the garage and putting the drivetrain back in.

I still have the little things to get hooked up and then get the brakes squared away and then I'll be ready to fire it up.
