removing gas tank

Im trying to get the gas tank out of my foxbody and came to a stop. How do you get the plastic piece out from around the filler neck so you can slide the filler neck through the hole in the trunk. Need help asap thanks

If I'm remembering this right, you don't have to take that piece out. I drop the tank to the drivers side and wiggle the filler neck out of the tank. As your dropping it down you need to watch for the harnesses. Seems like there is a small screw/bolt that comes out from the ring that's around the filler neck down on the tank. If I was there its a 10 min job, I'm sure you'll see what I'm talking about.

I've had to replace the rubber gasket on a few 5.0 cars... not to bad if there is no gas in the tank and you have an extra set of hands
