Most of you might know I bought a new car to drive daily...
If not, well, I sold my truck that I bought, and finally found a '93 Lincoln Mark Viii!!
I've wanted one of these ever since I knew that they had the 4.6 DOHC.
So here it is! I'll post more pictures as soon as I can get my dad's camera.

Yea they do. I like how all the dash controls are angled towards the driver.

Yes, they do. I absolutely love the inside of this car. It has black leather interior as well which I heard is a rare find. I love how the dash wraps around you and goes all the way back following the panels. The console lid was broke but I sorta fixed it. other than that it is awesome on the inside!

I also think the external styling was a long ball homer for Lincoln with that streamlined nose and sloping rear roofline. It also has a low stance that is unusual in luxury vehicles. It looks new even now. When they first came out a friend of mine had a red MK VIII with a light (sand color?) interior. Quite the ride.

It does need new valve cover gaskets... this might be the excuse I need!
What color would look good?
Seriously though, I plan to be driving this car by next week, so it might be a while before I get those valve covers off, lol

11-11-2008, 01:49 PM
Nooo way... I love the air ride on that thing. The rear was repaired within the last 2 years and works flawlessly, the fronts were good *at the time* that the guy parked it...
now it needs them. No biggie. Just wasnt expecting it to happen this soon.
Walter
11-11-2008, 02:24 PM
You will end up converting it. Just wait. That 15 yr old air ride will be a thorn in your side.
Stangman
11-11-2008, 02:44 PM
Why do you say that? the rear works perfectly, just need the fronts repaired. If I have to I'll put a compressor and dryer in it, but It doesnt act like it needs one

Haha yep, my dad had one and after replacing basically the entire system, some pieces more than once, he said screw it and made the conversion. Didn't even notice that much difference in ride quality either.

it'll still be air, it'll still be able to handle on rails, it'll still ride good, and it'll be cheap. Just waiting on some people to reply to me, not gonna 100% it yet, but we'll see :D

You just let me know good buddy! IF it beats $378 plus tax for some new air struts then I'm all for it!

Jesse, I actually traded my 93 Mark VIII for my 93 notchback. I loved the air ride, and the car handled like it was on rails. I lowered it, which was easy with the air ride. I had 18" Y2K cobra wheels on it, and some tint on the windows. Check out www.lincolnmotorsports.com, talk to Geno. He's got the hook-up on anything and everything for theese. I must warn you, theese arent cheap to do up though. They make a bitchin spoiler, and hoods for them too but far from cheap. I absolutely loved everything about the car, interior, exterior, and the power was great too. I lined up with this kid here in town with a 95 Z-28, you should've seen his face when I ran door to door with him and I had my a/c and bumps on lol... I'll try to load a pic of it up for ya. As for the trade, I totally miss my 8, but really wanted back in a notch...

My passenger fender faded like yours did, I was actually planning on painting it before I traded. I even mixed up a bitchin blue/purple pearl, but never laid it on before the trade... You might see this thing rolling around Dayton nowadays, I traded a guy named Bill Kessler for his notch...

11-14-2008, 01:44 PM
That is a beautiful 8!! My fender isnt faded... its dented in hardcore.
That is my eventual plan, lower the sensors to lower it, change the hubs and slap on some Cobra wheels and tint the windows.
I made my exhaust loud last night, it sounds awesome!

Hacked off the 3rd cat, resonator, and NO mufflers. So it sounds like a Cobra now! :D
I am trying to decide on single slant cut chrome tips on each side, smaller dual slant cut tips on each side, or some sweet but expensive Magnaflow slant cut/rolled tips

11-14-2008, 06:51 PM
how do you lower the sensors?
85_SS_302_Coupe
11-14-2008, 07:25 PM
I'd drive one of those in a heartbeat! I always thought they were smooth looking cars. There's a feature in one of the old 'mags called The Luxobarge Shootout where there's some 11 second Marks with Terminator engines.

Each bag in the front has air ride adjusters on them. The rear has one for both sides of it. You can raise or lower the car with them...:bigthumb cake work... But watch the front adjusters. I broke mine, and had to make new ones...
Stangman
11-14-2008, 11:47 PM
I picked up some front bags for $25 tonight... supposedly they are in better shape than mine.. And my compressor is really starting to hate life lately so they just might be the ticket until SOMEONE gets ahold of their buddies at Air Ride Technology! :D

I like the single outs, but whatever you decide just keep it classy. Those cars are just too sweet to jank. I know that sound you've got, I took off my exhaust to work on mine once, and drove it without the backhalf. Sounded wicked as hell, I think those pricey mag's would add that sweet bellow you might be looking for though... Just my .02...:D

Well, due to other committments, I had to just get the cheaper exhaust tips. I'm going to hide pretty much all of the tip under the bumper so it doesn't look like someone from the hood threw exhaust on it!

Either way you go, it just sounds wicked. Something about 32 valves screaming out a loud exhaust is badazz! Have you checked out any of the performance sites for them yet? They have video clips of cars modded out, and some cheap/free mods that help out too. Let me know if you need any info...

Yes, I've been on Lincolnsonline.com, I am registered on Markviii.org, I've drooled over lincolnmotorsport.com... there is some good stuff out there
I'd love to find some '96 HID housing cheap! My headlights blow!
Once I replace a few things and have the trans worked on, I am going to do all the free intake mods to it
But, if you've got any tricks that I don't already know yet... please... share em! :bigthumb

Hows your heater control, are the buttons broken through yet? Continental controls work in them, and way cheaper to but. They are the new solid button style, and look perfect. I cant remember much other than the intake mods, but if they come to mind, I'll let ya know. Search car-part.com for those HID's you can get em cheap if you fine em in a yard. I have a friend in the business who traded me my stockers for the HID's, but they went when the car did. They are deffinitely the must do mod...

If your housings that you have are clean, check out some of those universal HID kits. I know that theese cars take 4 9005 bulbs, which are actually high beam bulbs. Makes no sense because they are soooo dim lol. But my buddy fastnotch2002 found them for like $75.00 a set somewhere... Just a cheap idea I had for my Ram, and notch...

They actually looked nice. We put one in his 05 Busa LE, and it works great. As you know, bikes have alot more vibrations than cars, so it seems like it handles it well...:bigthumb
