Yesterday I saw a State Trooper driving a new Charger!, then saw another in West Chester driving a new Impala! Are they doing a test comparison to see which is going to replace the Vics? Anybody know?

Ky State Troopers are already sporting the Dodge Chargers.

Watch out for an unmarked dark metalic blue from the Dry Ridge branch. No markings and looks like an everyday vehicle except for the steel black wheels.........and no I didn't get pulled over by it :D

Louisville has been using them for a while and they look nothing like a police car. The ones I have seen were maroon with aluminum wheels.

And yes, they still stop 4 wheelers too. ;)

I saw quite a few the past couple of days in a few cities in KY.... small cities, at that. I can't comprehend why Elsmere, population of 200 (which is right by Erlanger) needs a new charger, but power to them I guess.... they look badass too with the black wheels and everything.... I saw one in Independence and also the cop at the weigh station on 275 I think it is has one too ;) saw him last weekend w/ a semi pulled over. Pretty car-gasmic for a cop car, but it'd be cooler if it were a pony.

I will state from personal experience the chargers SUCK as a patrol car.

They are quicker and more agile than the Vics. But we have had nothing but problems out of the chargers.
I will keep my Vic.

There's a Patrol officer who lives up the road from me, he got a new Charger. It may be because the Vics just aren't powerful enough to keep up with the performance cars these days.

Thats and I thought the Vic was being canceled and the Charger is the only performance RWD service vehicle out there. Could be wrong though.

A new SSP Mustang sure would be cool!

I'm thinking they're too heavy and expensive to be what the old fox cars were, but then how much more can they cost than a Vic or Charger?

The Vic is not being cancelled as a fleet vehicle.

Great, now everybody will be saying I drive a cop car. Maybe I should trade it for the Challenger. I wish. Not going to happen, I need all wheel drive to get to work.

Money has alot to do with it but so does personal preference of the department
they are pretty close in price Crown Vics $20053 Charger $20037 and the Impala $18298.

But the charges are by far the worst of the 3 when it comes to maintenance issues.
We have had nothing but problems with ours. It was a fight on who got the chargers. Now it's a fight to get yourself into something else.

I agree I think the Crown Vic is the most reliable of them all that is why you will see Cincinnati stick with them. Smaller departments can get away with switching around but larger departments need to keep there fleet the same for maintenance costs. The only thing the Charger has on the Crown Vic is looks. Pretty soon you will see charger taxicabs.

Cincinnati doesn't have any Chargers

it was followed by a crown vic. the vic said cincinnati police on the side and the charger had the same paint but i did not read what it said i just assumed it was because it looked like everything was the same except for the car itself

Nothing like Chrysler reliability for something important like a police vehicle.

Warren County Sheriff has been using a Magnum for a K9 vehicle for a while now. They also use a Ford Super Duty for commercial vehicle enforcement.

Those are vehicle enforcement, or DOT.

And yes, they still stop 4 wheelers too. ;)They're using Tahoes for NORMAL Patrol as well.

The MAIN difference between the DOT and the OSP is the color on the light bars.

DOT uses ALL RED where OSP uses RED/BLUE on the lightbars.

But, they will pull a 4 wheeler over too. Try to blast by one, at 85 and see what it gets you. ;)

The striping on the side is different too. The OSP have a grey striping and the ODOT have a light blue. Yes they will both pull over whatever is screwing up too lol, I've seen it first hand. I know Lima and Findlay Post of the OSHP have the Tahoe's, they are sweet but slow lol. Allthough the radio is still a hard one to outrun lol...:coo1:
