After owning a series of SN-95 Stangs and seeing the weight gain with the SN 197, I ended up getting a C6 Z06. But, I am still a Ford guy. It seems like the ticket to building a light Stang is the Fox body series. Is there are particular model year in the series that is better than another? It will be street car, but not a daily driver. Any suggestions would be welcome, since I am not as familiar with the Fox bodies as most of you are.

I was going to say 89 as well. No airbag wheel and has mass air.

Seeing what you have done with your current car, any 87-93 coupe would do. things like air bags, mass air computers and interiors are easily changed. Find a good straight body with no rust, or as close to it as possible, then start building. Or just drop it off at MD,or Cincy speed with a wish list and BOOM. One super fast great looking hot street/weekend car.

I love our 87 and 88 fox bodies! But that just for the tail lights...Oh and the hatch, not coupe...

thats what year i was going to say. they changed the speedo's over to 140 that year. 89 has the best computer(a9l for a 5 speed or a9p for automatics) on it to.

88 speed density was the fastest from factory with out air and you can build it up

If the GT-500 hadn't gained so much weight (nearly 4000 lbs.!!!!), I probably would have never bought the Z. At least I didn't buy a Nissan GT-R--give me a little credit.
