Power shifting is basically not lifting on the gas pedal when you shift gears. You have to learn to only push in the clutch enough to make the gear change. You usually bounce the motor off the rev limiter if you are too slow. The gain in ET is because there is no pause in putting power to the ground.
A good power shifter will get better ETs than if he had an auto trans even with a good shift kit.
It is a little hard on parts. LOL

Powershifting can net you considerably faster et's and can just as quickly relieve you of considerable cash. Stock trans just arent meant to be shifted this way. You can get away with it but your taking a gamble every time.

I'll deal with the slower ET....tranys are too expensive. I shift pretty damn quick as it is.

Powershifting is what I do with my John Deere when I mow the lawn Curt:lol:
I have broken my tranny 3 times now powershifting. I just speed shift it now and say screw the 3 tenths. I'll worry about that next season. I had a blast today and thanks for the ride. Your car is pretty impressive for what 's done to it.:bigthumb

It definatly takes time to learn to powershift. You can't be scared of breaking something. I had hundreds of powershifted passes on my old tremec 3550 (4 seasons worth) in my coupe. The last season it was behind my 347 on a 150 shot (10.4's at 132).

I know my car isn't very fast, but I used to powershift the shit outta it with 180-190K on the clock... and the tranny never bitched at me one time. I find it easy to do, even with bad knees... as long as I can apply that quick force I'll getter done. I can't powershift second anymore due to an unrelated problem... I was beating on the car one day and went to powershift, and my shoe was wet and slipped all the way up the clutch pedal arm... I promptly heard a loud grinding noise... and since then it grinds second when I shift fast. I should be getting that fixed soon enough.....STEVE!

Damn, that gave me an erection
What kind of Tremec? I've got a 3550...i have power shifted it but i didn't really see any improvement over how i normally shift.

There is a slightly better video, nose still in there air grabbing second, just as the front sets down driver grabs third.
That video sounds like and ignition cut tied to the clutch switch.

Probably bumping it off the chip on the shifts.

Maybe, but using a clutch switch to kill the spark is easier on the tranny when power shifting.
My MSD was chipped at 7800 rpm, Fuel cut at 8500 rpm, but I was shifting at 7000-7100 with a clutch switch.
Partly why my little car was a bit faster than others, I drove the snot out of it!!!!!!

Some people shift the car off the limiter with little or no clutch. Driving my old GT all I did was feather the clutch and grab a gear. I didnt think you were supposed to lift off the gas at all till you cross the stripe.

It is simple right foot down and doesn't come up till you cross the finish line;) Give it as little clutch as you have to and hang them cogs :cool1:

What model tremec is it? Does it feel like you are hitting a wall if you try to shift into 3rd while being aggressive?

its a tremec tkoII ... every gear feels like it wants to hang up at high rpm ... its not like a t5 where you can grip it and rip it, this almost feels like i need to let the rpms die to get into the next gear ... i like the tranny, just needs to be smoother ...
maybe it needs more miles? ... ive put 1300 on it ...

Pops had a Tremec 600 that felt like it hit a wall not grinding but just would not go into gear. Tremec has a fix for that and sent me parts. They ran the trans tags to get the date on the trans. That seemed to take care of his trans.
